Weekly poll: would you rather have the Galaxy A55, Galaxy A35 or neither?

17 March 2024
Their predecessors rivaled the Galaxy S series for popularity, so these have big shoes to fill. And they do bring some major improvements.

All I are about on any midranger these days is that the battery life and camera are decent.

All we know about the A55 so far is that the camera is half decent but we know squat about the battery life. The two things I'm bothered about and I know 1/4 of the answers.

The A35 has the A54's shi77y chip from last year so that device is out of the question.

"Would you rather buy this overpriced device or that other one?"

Samsung should know by now that consumers are not easy fools, when consumers are still preferring A52s over recent A series models. A55 is shit in the same line of artificial scarcity when it is possible for Samsung to provide latest and best hardware to justify the cost.

Oh worst of all, Samsung is still needlessly growing size/volume and weight of their phones. There is no reason like more battery, new technology (ex. Satellite, mmWave antennas) that justifies the volume and weight. Only careless designers justifying their jobs at Samsung.

Paying for them? Never. I prefer buying a second hand flagship from 3 years ago.

Neither. I’m going for the Poco X6 Pro. It has much better value for money (superior screen in every way, much better chip, much faster memory speed UFS 4.0, lighter, much faster recharge and MUCH CHEAPER)! I don’t care too much about the cameras.

                A55 because of Exynos 1480

Not in a bad way, it's the A54 frame having a better feel than expected.

Now you are saying the A54 has a plastic back? I can’t take this anymore

the A54's back are not plastic, its clearly Gorilla Glass 5, only the frame are matte plastic

GSMArena should definitely add two options to these weekly polls: "It's too big for me/I prefer smaller phones" and "it's too small for me/I prefer bigger phones".

That would also give us some additional insight beyond the options that are already there in the polls, because size is never an option in these and "none of the above" could mean a million different things.

I would get a Xiaomi or a Meizu, Samsung are so overrated - the iPhones of Android.

In TechDaily's speed test comparison, the Exynos 1380 was occasionally slower than the Dimensity 1080 - go watch his video, and you'll see what I mean.

Anonymous, 17 Mar 2024Oh come forget about the motherboard problems, that affecte... moreI also love how he mentions motherboard problems for the Xiaomi and fails to mention the design flaw on the motherboards of all Google Pixel 5a 5G phones that eventually kills them. People are getting replacements for free as well, and now that supply has dried up, Google is replacing them with other phones for free. I've seen people receive a Google Pixel 6, and I've even seen someone receive a Google Pixel 7 Pro. Xiaomi didn't need to do this because their problem wasn't this bad.

I'm keeping my s21 ultra until it turns to dust.

Anonymous, 17 Mar 2024Using A52. Still works fine but will go for flagship this time.Great choice. A52 series are the best midrange phones samsung ever made.

Neither. I'm sure it will not have the full camera2api accessible (making it useless for third party camera/video apps). Samsung enabling raw on flagships only is really shady- understandable if it was the stock camera only but blocking the capability all together is crazy.

In that case, why do people still buy Samsungs when their batteries explode?

Anonymous, 17 Mar 2024Too heavy, still only 25w charging, no LTPO, no wireless ch... moreLack of LTPO in this price range is a forgivable offense, but still using Rigid OLED instead of Flexible OLED isn't forgivable at all, and neither is the humongous bezels that are still bigger than the A51's. Also, the A55 doesn't even at least have variable LTPS that does 48-120Hz.
