Samsung S series normally has so... moreHow many people do you think who has the budget to buy an expensive flagship and the need for a cutting edge phone, then be happy to use that same phone for 7 years while companies keep marketing all the next gen stuff? Not many is the answer. So, to most 5 years of support is more than enough cos that is usually the max people will use it anyway.

Cannot compared this way.
Samsung S series normally has software support up to 7 years. Xiaomi phone, although hardware build is nice but software support is weak and short life.

rizki1, 14 Mar 2024seriously? do you know the price of iPhone in India? There ... moreWhen you count in a the cost, Apple doesn't make €800 profit.
A lot sure, but not that much.
However their phones sell in amounts Xiaomi can dream off, so that margin combined with the sales makes a ton of money.
Not to defend Apple, even better every company asking four digit numbers for their phones is annoying in my opinion.
Because these prices are that high because people it so easily for it, not because phones are worth that much.
Reminds me of my time at college, I went to a store that was 10 minutes away (lunch break was 55 minutes precisely) to get my lunch there.
Simple sandwich with cheese was 1 euro there (never got that, I got other stuff), which for that time was a fair price.
The cafetaria at my college asked 4.30 euro for same sandwich, en they sold like hot cakes because most people didn't bother to take a walk.
And I stopped counting how many times people complained about prices and especially when they saw how much better my lunch was for less money.
But 99% of them kept buying their lunch at the cafetaria.
Smartphone market reminds me of that time.
