The A55 costs as much as the S23 FE in some regions (if it's even available). The A35 doesn't offer much that the old (and now cheap) A54 does.

        If "other alternatives" mean China-brand phones, then I'd rather go Samsung, LG, or Sony.

          Second it have IP68 vs IP67 on A55
          It have UFS 3.1 which is equally fine to A55 3.2 difference is barely any.
          It have GG Victus build glass back and front or leather edition. Anyway is equal in case of eco leather even better.
          Lastly the list of updates is good enough. You get anyway only 2 years of warranty from Samsung or Xiaomi in case of EU countries noone will give u more.
          The phone will not last that long but specs are way better plus plenty of nice accesories in box compared to empty box with phone on Samsung.

          Any person has right to pick phone based on personal taste, but to say Redmi Note 13 pro is better phone is really delusional.
          Yes the redmi note 13 pro is worse than A55 by little but is way better than A35 and cost equally same plus nice accesories in box.

          But the said Redmi Note 13 pro+ is even better than S24 in many aspects and easily beats even S23FE.

                Well, it's not an "overpriced Samsung phone", what it IS, is an overpriced phone. At this price you can get phones with the 8 Gen 2, or Dimensity 8300 (Ultra), which are much better than the admittedly "not bad" Exynos 1480. In my opinion the Exynos 1480 should've powered the A35, while the A55 should've gotten a much better chipset, and the FE with it's awful battery life shouldn't even exist. The FE is clearly a failed line, the S21 FE was too late, while the S22 FE simply didn't exist, and the S23 FE is basically what the S22 FE should've been, but a year too late. There is already no continuity in the line, which doesn't look good from such a huge company like Samsung, and who even knows whether there will be another FE, or not, maybe it will be called S24 FE, or it might be S25 FE, or nothing at all.

                    I don't think the A55 cost "too much." In the current Samsung lineup, it fils the price gap between the A35 and S23FE nicely. There's a reason the A5x series continually selling very well.

                    The problem is what you get design wise. Thick bezel, heavy bulky phone, and small screen for the size, are unacceptable when Samsung had better designs in the past. And considering the S21FE is still available, imo it's the better buy since you'll get a better looking phone with flagship experience.

Even the base iPhone version or Pixel can't beat this.

To me there can't be a proper mid-ranger without the 3.5mm jack. Plus, the Galaxy is indeed more expensive, as the article says.

                          OnePlus 12R better. I can trade in my garbage iPhone XR and cancel my iCloud sub and get a discount of 180 and get it for 420 USD (16/256) compared to the almost 570 USD (estimate) of 12/256 variant on A55.

                          If your dead-set on a Samsung, A72s, A34/5 and A72 are better midrangers. They should be below 400 USD. S21 Ultra, S21 FE and maybe S23 FE are better flagships, nearing the 570 USD price mark.

                          Can easily find a S21U for under 300 on Swappa, S21 FE for under 200 (damn) and S23 FE for around 390.

                              Of course no review would make them that impressive since they lack too much, but if samsung give discount slashing for at least 100-150$ like right now, they would still be saved for their price are now matching what they offer

The 12r has that combo, in addition, it also has a alert slider and IR blaster, and the flagship grade performance as well, all of which make it better than A55. Also to mention, on Samsung phones it does not matter what glass they use, because their phones are really really weak in drop tests, even their flagship phones since the last few years have badly failed, despite using all that armour frame aluminum and victus glass etc

The FE is too close in price to both the A5x and the S2x model for what it offers (or doesn't offer). Seriously, Samsung needs to get rid of the FE and treat its A5x model as an FE instead, without increasing the price. Either that, or the A5x model should be reduced down to £450, which they will never do.
