Weekly poll results: the Galaxy A55 costs too much, Galaxy A35 brings too little to the table

24 March 2024
The A55 costs as much as the S23 FE in some regions (if it's even available). The A35 doesn't offer much that the old (and now cheap) A54 does.

Darth Caesium, 24 Mar 2024I'm not generally a fan of OnePlus, but the OnePlus 12... moreIndeed, the 12r is great value for money. Samsung's earlier selling point for A series was 4 years of OS updates but others are catching up fast and provide nearly the same amount of support. And then, the battery size is also bigger on the oneplus so that matters a lot, for someone like me that uses their phone extensively for a variety of tasks

A56 should provide a 12MP 3× telephoto, a 12MP selfie, autofocus with macro support on the ultrawide, 256GB of base UFS 3.1 storage (up to 512GB), 12GB of RAM and 65W wired charging. If people are saying that this would invalidate Samsung's flagships, then let me tell you this: that's only because they need to improve their flagships too.

S25 and S25+ should come in 6.3" and 6.8" sizes, with both having 1440p screens with thinner bezels than last year so that there is almost no change in overall size. They should have a 3× periscope-style telephoto with a 50MP sensor and macro support, a 50MP selfie, a 50MP ultrawide with macro, 256GB of base UFS 4.0 storage (up to 1TB), 16GB of RAM, and 100W fast charging or better.

S25 Ultra should come in two sizes (6.3" and 6.8"), both with 1440p screens (not that the Ultra ever had a lower resolution). It should be thicker (9.5mm) to accomodate a variable telephoto with 3-10× zoom and macro support using a 50MP sensor like the IMX 858 (since variable telephoto modules apparently don't take up huge amounts of space); a hypothetical (since no such sensor exists right now) 1/1.12"-type 50MP main sensor that has all of the improvements from both GN2 and HP2, like staggered HDR and Smart ISO Pro; a 50MP ultrawide using the LYT-600 with macro support; a ToF 3D sensor; a dual selfie setup using the LYT-500 for both, with 13mm and 26mm lenses, as well as a ToF 3D for face unlock; 16GB of base RAM, with 24GB of RAM for the highest storage tier; 512GB of base UFS 4.0 storage (up to 2TB); and 100W fast charging or better.

Samsung has got it this year with the flagship level build quality, but since everything else about this phone is average, it's way too expensive at launch, but I see them going into the right direction with this phone.

These A phones are a bad value for money. I would rather buy oneplus 12r or iQoo Neo 9 pro that offer much better performance and other specs. In fact, there are several other phones that will offer better specs at same price
Samsung A series now stands for Average

We, atleast, need a proper night camera for these phones. iPhone SE fails for the same reason.

So a proper camera with all the, if not lastest, features are requirements of the day.

for me, m55 is the real deal, can't wait for it,it already has 45w charging spead and snapdragon 7 gen 1. it better comes with stereo speakers though...

Not worth going from my A54 to the A55. The improvements are minimal. Let's hope Samsung gets it right with the A56. Hopefully faster charging speeds, matte glass finish on the back, new camera setup with telephoto lens instead of macro. Can't believe wireless charging is still not available on the A-series.

After this year's A series, think about what Samsung will provide next year? The A36 could be the E1480 and the A56 E1580 which is still under 1 million AnTuTu scores, still has 128GB base storage, thick bezel and slow charging. What about the camera? telephoto? who would have thought Samsung could deliver this?

MarOMG, 24 Mar 2024In Europe (Croatia) A35 6/128 = 358€, A54 8/256 = 349€. Yes... moreThat's how much A52s was back in the day. And A55 is just now finally outperforming it. It's crazy how they jacked up the price with very little brought to the table. Sure, glass back is nice, but that won't make phone be snappy for years to come and I'd prefer if Exynos 1080 series were a bit less crap despite all the performance uplifts over its life.

In Europe (Croatia) A35 6/128 = 358€, A54 8/256 = 349€. Yes, A54 is a year old device, but it will recive more Android updates than most new phones today. It will go up to Android 17. So, forget A35, for now.

                                Samsung only made 2 proper mid-rangers: A72 and A52s.
That's why I recently replaced my A72 with a Redmi note 13 pro. I'm never going back to Samsung unless either they bring back the 3.5mm jack or Xiaomi stops making proper mid-rangers too.
