potato4k, 24 Mar 2024So are you still using that old Nokia? Yup, and it still serves me well. I didn't expect this to last this long, either.

The additional partition should help matters.

Anonymous, 23 Mar 20242 hours is the time of download the update package, the use... moreDepends on which devices you had used. For flagships, it would make sense that it's possible to use them while updating. But for mid-rangers and low end devices, it's been otherwise.

I've been exposed to that category of Samsung devices, hence why I'm disappointed with the delay, when there are much cheaper phones with similar or better specs that don't take 2 hours to boot up after installing an update.

and even more storage going to that useless partition, from that tiny 128gb that most samsungs has usable free space will be around 95 which is funny because iphones had around 110-115 gb left

Urs, 22 Mar 2024My problem is that is not any settings to stop any updates!... more"no updates ever repaired a software or hardware problem, didn't make it faster or run cooler, didn't save the battery more."

"Didn't improve" is much different than "made worse". So as a Samsung user from galaxy s1, you haven't faced a situation where the phone was made worse by an update. That itself is enough for having them. You get all the latest new features, security etc at no additional expense.
What's more, you also know the issues soon after launch and make a decision with confidence, without assuming the issues will be fixed in future.

Also, the time needs for download depends on the internet connection speed. The faster the internet connection, the less time it needs.

The reboot for installing needs about 10-20 minutes depends on type of phone, during which most user left their phone at night.

I can tell this, because i am also a long time samsung user.

If it was 20 minutes like you mentioned, it wouldn't be anything to complain. But more than 2 hours is unforgivable for the premium you pay over alternatives. So it's make no sense to defend Samsung's time-consuming updates.

Many samsung user left their phone at night during sleep while updating its phone. So, the 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 20 minutes time difference between two methods is irrelevant. Also, i have not seen samsung user complain about the updates method.
