Anonymous, 24 Mar 2024If you are hanging on to your Samsung phone why do you care... morebecause I like phones, and I tend to keep track of where manufacturers need to improve. just because I don't personally have a Motorola doesn't mean that they don't need to improve their software update policy. the fact that the best defence for Motorola is that a 2 year old phone is still getting supported it honestly just sad.

pretty poor leak, the 6 gen 1 is likely the neo fusion, 7 gen 3 is fusion 50 and the pro 50 is 8 gen 3..... seems these are all confused.

Anonymous, 23 Mar 2024My g62 has march securiity patch. Midrange from 2022Literally Motorola just upholding their standard 1+3 policy. My three year old Samsung is still going to be getting updates close to day 1 two years down the line, when the phone will be five years old. Really makes 2 years look diminutive.

That's the stategic pattern of motorola phones.. for every 2 years, in 1st years they provide good specs and then 2nd year, their upgrade models get downgraded specs... then on 3rd year they provide better specs then the previous generations.. so that Customers believes that motorola is actually doing Improvements... this vicious cycle continues and eventually try to fool thier buyers and + influence of Techies (motorola did better job this year)

And we know in the end (only rare ones) that this only tactics
but hey i can be wrong and this is how i observed what moto is doing.. and this maybe happening with all other brands as well

Anonymous, 23 Mar 2024But repairs are starting to become a thing in the past now.... moreTbh it kinda depends on what sparepart do you mean. If we're talking about changing batteries or broken screen, it's still cheaper to replace both than buying a new phone. At least in my country, it's still cheaper to replace both on a 3 years old midranger rather than buying the same phone under used condition.
But if we're talking about the motherboard, then yeah buying a same phone under used condition seems makes more sense.

When you phone starts to cost as much as a similar model on the used market or spare parts are scarce, you either just buy it again used or add a few more to buy a newer/better model.
Used market is so flooded that old models no longer depreciate as much and technicians that I know get less customers each day. All because only a few come for repairs and just end up buying new/used models instead.

Motorola makes absolutely no sense. Edge 30 Fusion had Snapdragon 888+ and now 50 Fusion has 6 gen 1 which is at least almost 2 times worse. What can I say, they're not trying to compete at all lol

Minu, 22 Mar 2024Or just avoid getting a new phone instead, because honestly... moreAgree, changing your phone every 2 years or less is kinda useless and just creating more e-waste at this point, regardless of the brand and pricing, especially the fact that even lower-end phone nowadays are made to last for at least 3 years (or even more, if you are protective of your things). For example, Samsung gives 3/4 years of security patch to their A0x series, Xiaomi provides security update until 2027 for their Redmi 13C phone (dunno about their Redmi Ax series phone), and Oppo gives a "36 months fluency protection" (that's what it called iirc) to their lower-end phones.
Well except maybe you got a software bug since Day 1 buying your phone that affect your user experience and still didn't get any updates, then you're just getting scammed at this point. (looking at you, Transsion phones).

I have no idea why GSMA decided this is the Fusion. As you said, it's more likely to be the non-Pro.
