I only recently bought a secondhand Edge 30 Fusion, as I don't like curved displays. However, due to the Fusion being so thin, the curve is far more subtle than on a phone such as the Find X3, so it's tolerable. It's a very premium phone and the camera is decent with GCam, so I won't be getting the Edge 50 Fusion if it's a downgrade.

worse than the two years old Edge 30 Fusion, how nice!

The device with 7g3 seems really to be 50 Pro.
Some new pro material shows the triple cam 13-73mm, IP68, 125W wired /50W Qi.
Out of box android 14, updatable to android 17.

Edge 30 was almost 6k INR (70 ish dollars) cheaper than Edge 40 on release.
G71 was a 5G phone, G72 was LTE and G73 was once again a 5g phone which got rebranded to G54 and now it's getting rebranded to G64

In Short, Motorola isn't really downgrading their phones, they are inconsistently naming their phones.

People wonder why more peo... moreI'd say that's debatable, I do agree brands are trying much less but brands like Motorola and Asus for example have a low market share in the mobile division anyway so it might just not be worth investing in for them.
Then we have Samsung and in the same boat Apple both of whom don't have to worry about their market share.
There are also some brands that have a decent market share some of whom are actively trying like Xiaomi and Google, others are more concerned with their home market than anywhere else like Oppo and Oneplus.

All in all I think these things are inevitable and in a way understandable as much as we may not prefer it.

                              G52 is 1080p Oled, then G53 is 720p LCD.
Older G series used to have 1/2" and 1/1.76" cameras, then gor replaced by 1/2.75" (at least g84 has 1/1.56").
They increase and decrease IP rating often.
They put flat screen to later go curved and some point to go flat again .
G34 has same SD695 used by G84, while G54 has worse SoC.
The upcoming 64 might be rebranded 54.

And once again, more downgrades. People wonder why more people are switching to iPhone. Android manufacturers just aren't even trying anymore.

I've been android my whole life, but my next phone will probably be an iPhone.

Android is killing itself. It's sad to watch.

I'm not sure how bad flagships from Moto were selling to change their edge lineup, but their upcoming phones are pretty underwhelming. I know Moto sells their midrangers and entry phones in some markets like hotcakes. If that's the case, then they should get rid of the Edge series and focus on the Moto G like they did when they got rid of the Moto Z series. Awful decision.
