The Oppo Find X7 series is getting 5.5G support, the first in the industry

28 March 2024
It's an update to the existing X7 and X7 Ultra phones, which will work on the China Mobile network. 5.5G targets speeds of up to 10Gbps.

In a city/highly dense area, Carrier need to move to using fiber optic and use the frequency for cellular.

Satelite TV need to move to 12GHz+ frequency in the future. And clear out the bellow 7GHz as of now.

5.5G will use the full 6GHz. That's 1GHz of clear (not used) band.
            It's already designated as N96 (band 96)

"4G gets something like 100-150Mbps as that is enough to run like 10 devices to stream 4K format in Netflix"

            5G is about efficiency.
4G band is 20MHz wide, 5G band is 100MHz wide
            For comparison 3G is 5MHz wide & 2G is about 200KHz wide.
The carrier can use 1 Base station for the whole 100MHz instead of 1 base station for a 20Mhz and be able to handle more user at the same time.

Of course, this whole 5G/5G advanced work using the bellow 7GHz band (sub-7). not the mmwaves.

Very High frequency band such as mmWaves is totally useless as it can't penetrate wall and windows.

High density area needs wide band, more band
That's why the rest of the world assigning the 6GHz for 5.5G (not for WiFi)
With a total of 1GHz (the full 6GHz band), 5.5G will work in high density area without overcrowding base station.

potato4k, 29 Mar 2024What many people here don't seem to understand is that... moreI agree, but we have to account the lower range of 5G networks. We need far more towers in 5G than any of the previous networks for the same capacity.

Maybe 7G will have a tower in every 300 meters.
The more I see networks evolving, the more I see them becoming WiFi.
For this reason, 4G is still relevant for long range internet use, for highways, isolated areas and all.

What many people here don't seem to understand is that 5G is not just about speed, but capacity. 5G has much more capacity than 4G, which is important in highly dense areas, especially when you have everything connected to the cellular network, not just phones.

And I can see 4G being deprecated soon. In many countries, they use NSA 5G, where 5G is still piggybacking on 4G, and 4G is still prioritized. Making SA 5G is very costly, as such I'll bet we will see 4G being deprecated instead since they can then simply use the existing infrastructure for 5G.

CamoGeko-XDA, 28 Mar 2024Bro why?? 5G is still garbage in most areas, also it runs o... moreHigh frequency bands are for high density areas. For low density you need low freq. Pick a carrier with a band that you need depending on what density you live in.

Some carriers brag about good prices and fast speeds but in fact it's the wrong frequency for you. =Wrong carrier.
