4G network is must have to go for large mass areas that makes it reliable to everyone. 2G & 3G must not to exist today.

I changed the network settings to 4G only since my carrier does not have 2G/3G networks. Advantage is, they were not experience mobile data interruption (while playing online games) during incoming video calls with VoLTE enabled.

With 4G only configured on a phone, it reduces signal interference. No 2G/3G signals received to my device. Reduced time of searching for network. Saves battery usage.

It can also use 5G/4G only network too if your carrier supports it.

My hope is that 5G (and 4G) gets more bands at the cell towers. Our phones support a large number of bands but use only 1-2 because there's a lot of other (ancient) radio traffic hogging up the frequency spectrum.

BigDisplay, 28 Mar 2024Agreed... But for cars etc without human drivers 4g it'... moreWe are not talking about cars in here. the news is about a phone gets the 5.5G/5GA
Never mind that the internet needs to come from somewhere and that needs to be done so that it can handle all the cars. You think that self driving car should take the internet from your phone ?

Never mind that i dont think all the cars and busses and what ever things in the future with auto pilot should be connected to the internet we use for entertainment and communication.

Inventing new internet technology wont take so long as it takes to build infrastructure for it all over our planet

Bro why?? 5G is still garbage in most areas, also it runs on such high frequency it can't even penetrate paper.

5.5G is such a meme at this point.

              (google)
The UK's mobile network operators have confirmed to the Government that they do not intend to offer 2G and 3G mobile networks past 2033 at the latest. This will support the roll-out of the 4G and 5G networks which will offer faster and more reliable services for customers.27 Feb 2024

Anonymous, 28 Mar 2024LTE can even reach Gigabit speeds, if reception is good enoughThat was 4.5G with special tools and special conditions in a private network for testing the speed. I remember some of it from my local news as it was tested in Estonia year or 2 ago

3G is fast enough for me (or would be, if it was still available). All I want is a cheap (less than $10) unlimited data plan with great coverage and more than 25 Mbit/s. Also, calls/sms included so I don’t accidentally have to pay money for them.

I would say that 5G dont even have a lot of bands yet to come out with 5.5 and then soon probably coming also 6G
Never mind that the speeds with 4G is already more then anyone ever needs. And i am talking about average user and not the really really minority part that do large file sending and downloading where they need the fast speeds

4G gets something like 100-150Mbps as that is enough to run like 10 devices to stream 4K format in Netflix
