It's also planning to market much more effectively.

pl2rts, 05 Apr 2024To get the price down over 300 euro the SD695 would be too ... moreGiven that the Nokia G42 offers a similar modularity and more compelling storage/RAM options at $150 or less, there's no need for an overpriced phone that doesn't meet its advertised capabilities

If they can lower the price to $250 in Asia, some might be interested. And also open the official service center and accessories.

guys, better buy some flagship phone for 1500€ and keep it for 5 years rather than buying this crap phone, wich you will want to get rid of after a year because you paid so much and received so little.
this is gonna be a more sustainable choice.

I would just open up the phone, mess around with the parts and lose one in 5 minutes. This phone is not for me

I'm in full support of repairability, but Fairphone is hypocritical. They don't promote sustainability, I don't want to repeat here. It's just some Chinese rip-off, for much more money than it costs.

Also, I can't support a selfie cutout with borders bigger than in Sony without one but with front-facing stereo speakers. Especially when a much better Xperia 5 V costs the same in Europe as Fairphone 5, but with a headphone jack + SD card, on top of flagman chip.

Fa14bi, 05 Apr 2024And whats the bad about being able to repair there phone wi... moreAlso, I bought into Fairphone 2 and 3 because I had the hope that one day, they'd drop a sick new camera module five or ten times better than the current one, or maybe a different focal length because 30 to 40 mm is my preference for nearly all photography.

That didn't really happen. You could choose between the 1/2.55 sensor or the 1/2.25 sensor... 🙄

It's about as upgradable as my liver.

Please tell me it's coming to South Korea too. There's only Samsung and iPhone, not being one of them is a huge advantage by itself

Fa14bi, 05 Apr 2024Imagine being unable to put the powerbank inside of your Ph... moreSo, power down your phone for five or ten minutes while you're in the middle of something fun/important, plus you're always carrying around a spare battery hoping it doesn't short out on your keychain? Something that USB-C inherently avoids?

Beyond that, what material is this battery cover? Plastic? Breakable. Metal? No Qi for you! Ceramic? Wait, that won't work... It's an engineering nightmare that also compromises water resistance.

Your power bank can push from 10% up to 40% in ten minutes or so, and then go back to being untethered like the wild adventurer you are!

I’d never pay 700€ for their specs. It’s a nice concept and I DO want to be part of it but for those prices I’d rather not

Ananoose, 05 Apr 2024Maybe try including the jack as wellI crossed them off the list the moment they removed the jack. Was waiting for them to expand but lol no they removed jack first, sold bluetooth headphones and then used the EU mandate about usb type C to justify removing the jack. Like what does EU standardization law have to do with a port that was never meant for charging in the first place.

Yes, they said that in an interview. The idiots.
