Fairphone wants to expand to 23 new markets and reach the €400 price point

It's a flop concept, who needs to open up their phones everyday ? That's literally the only one selling point of this phone, and not even a tangible benefit for most users. On top of that, it's overpriced for specs on offer, and even with €400 tag, some chinese phone will always offer better specs. IMO this company should work on something better to set it apart from other phones, in a way that every user can relate to it, for example there is the honor x9b with it's screen tech to make it more resistant to falls etc. These are the kind of issues that smartphone users actually face in daily life, and not the problem of how to open up the phone by themselves, that's not a real problem. It's not everyday that one needs to have the phone opened up to replace something

Let's also keep releasing phones every year and make their measurements differ a few millimetres so that all the phone accessories become obsolete waste.
Beyond absurd but the cattle will moo along.. 🥴

Even at 400 euro it will still be over priced. If they give us 10 years of software support it needs to have latest flagship chip to last that 10 years but they have middle of the middle class performance chip that in 5 years be as powerful as you get a phone for 100 euro.

Add back the 3.5mm jack, allow inserting a microSD card without removing the battery, and at 400$ you have a customer right here.

The Fairphone is easy to repair and disassemble but in all these years of owning smartphones I've never once had a need to open up my phone since I use case so the screen doesn't break and the USB port doesn't malfunction if I am careful. Yes the battery does get worn out and for that, it's like a $30 cost at the official service center or the nearby repair shop. No need to spend €700 to be able to do it all by myself
The fair phone is more of a fairy tale than actually of any benefit. Sounds good as something new, but the trend will soon fade away

Here's an idea: make the phones actually good.
All good that the phone is repairable, but if it's a bad value phone people won't buy it.

The phone itself is pretty crappy but the entire "sustainability" pitch is what irks me because it's beyond hypocritical.
Why? Well, tell me: does the phone have a headphone jack? No? There you go.
So much "concern" for "the environment" but it's promoting wireless audio solutions which no only are inferior to wired ones in terms of quality, but also require batteries to work... Batteries which have short lifespans and requiring the mining of materials that increase emissions and e-waste.
"sustainable"? Ahahahah don't make me laugh.

Good, hopefully it will officially come to my country and with reasonable price. The current Fairphone price is ridiculous if I want to import it to my country. I can buy an iPhone 15 Pro! 😳🤦🏻♂️

I still remember when they removed the headphone jack and coincidentally launched bluebooth buds on the side. The justification was so lame even the guy saying it felt embarrassed. So yeah this is a modular phone but doing this puts them right next to samsung and apple and all that ethical talk right out the window
