Anonymous, 08 Apr 2024Exactly. As the years go on, I just keep thinking about how... moreLG did make good use of the built-in Desktop Mode for Screen+. I'm using it on my V50 and my Wing, and it's an absolute joy. It may not be as rich as Samsung DeX or Motorola Ready For, but I'm still glad to see smartphone OEMs work on such a truly useful feature.

Took them too long to finally get serious with it, especially when both Samsung and Huawei have been giving us Desktop Mode capability long before Desktop Mode on Android 10 is even a thing.

If I can get hardware of this class, without Samsung's garbage software, I'll jump ship immediately.

One thing that takes them forever to figure out is grouping the address bar together with the tab bar to allow more screen on the web page. Thats the only way I can see myself using windows on tablets and foldables

I remember when Apple was claiming some iPhone (I think the 12) was the first phone with a Dolby Vision screen when my LG G6 from 2017 had one.

This would be cool on Android tablets in the future.

It's about time Google showed Android's desktop mode some love

Anyone else sees whata wrong with Google in co tell of AndroidOS along with being a competitor to their licencees?! If you dont swe a monopoly then your blind.

Samsung saw thia happen to Sony with their PalmOS Clie product lineup where their own code made tbeie hardware a good product and was forced to give up their in-house created code.

Good guy Samsung, for letting other manufacturer "copies" its phone design and old software features from Samsung.

Creepyzebra, 07 Apr 2024Should collaborate with samsung for DEX modeThere's a very good chance this is Samsung sharing their DEX code with Google, like they're always doing. It's the life's story of Android; Samsung develop and eventually have to share to keep the whole ecosystem competitive.
Android without Samsung would 100% have been stuck in Blackberry mode and dead 15 years ago.

                                        About time.
I don't use DeX often, but everytime I do I'm amazed how removed it is from android in terms of user experience. Definitely massive added value for phones, but even more important it makes tablets actually usefull and viable laptip alternative.
Regular Android tables were always crippled by sharing UI with phones, whenever I used one felt like driving car with bike steering wheel, just unnatural.
