Why is Samsung making micro SDs if they are making smartphones that have no SD card slot? I assume smartphones are one of the biggest sources for SD card use. And Samsung would be one of the top distributers, Apple wont try to compete, San Disk is in their own lane. This is the type of manufactured market dominance that’s ok with me.

But in the end, software incompatibility ruins it. Not even it and wireless earbuds can easily replace the plug-and-play solution that only the 3.5mm audio jack offers.

even at 50MB/s it is 400mbps.
it is still butter smooth to watch a 8K video.

mostly all spec sheet, not actual speed.

          microSDs are a great tech.

Samsung is a bit late to larger capacities though. You'd think they'd want to make a statement and go over over the 1TB capacity. There are other microSDs with 1.5 and even 2TB now.

Usb 2.0 can do 480mb/s read speeds though so still isnt an issue for devices with that spec 😊

Lol, 10 Apr 2024which device can support Actual Reading speed > 100mb/s?... moreIf we're talking usb speeds, basically any phone with usb 2.0 and up, if we're talking internal storage speeds, anything with emmc 5.1 and up (so ufs 2.0 and up).

YUKI93, 09 Apr 2024There are tablets and laptops with real microSD card slot anyway. Can confirm on that. My 2022 Asus Zenbook 14 Flip OLED has MicroSD card slot reader.

And nk, usb 2.0 is not limited to budgets. Midrangers like A55 and NP2A still have usb 2.0.

(which is about 480mb/s read speeds isnt it, so fast enough fot a portable ssd). Im pretty confident in saying 95% of phones from mid range to flagship is atleast usb 3.1 now and even xiaomi has moved to usb 3.2 gen 2, atleast 4 companies now use this standard with DP capabilities.

The low enders are usually 2.0 and they generally have sd slots on them (and again still quick enough to keep up with a portable sata ssd).

You... moreIve been using the same dongle for about 3-4 years (across 3, maybe 4 devices) and only device its had an issue with was my old pixel 6 pro that kept taking me to a troubleshooting page about updating my phone (was completely up to date). They can sometimes have an issue with wires but one ive had consistency with was a wire with acition button on it (to end calls etc).

Sound is literally the same as if using a wire through a jack (and is improved over BT, i use overhead BT headphones which has a port on it for wired output).

you have to suffer, 09 Apr 2024rather have 23% improvement on sd card than storing my file... moreI pay like £1.99 a month and im far from rich lol (plus $60 for 512gb of only 100-180mb read speeds... Pretty slow really for the money) also thats not how cloud storage works (if you said backed up on corperate servers then would make more sense/dig at cloud users). I think most of us on here are just a bunch of old farts who need to complain about something haha (me included).

The usb port on the phone literally acts as a headphone jack and basically any other type of connection (including midi device), jack and slot arent actually needed but it is nice to have choice tbf.

You have the choice to go wired and/or wireless. It's not possible to do both when there's no headphone jack. Dongles might exist, but they still have compatibility issues.

I see many doesn't seem to understand, having the microSD slot does not stop you from using the cloud. You have a choice to use it or not, but it's there in case you need it.

And there's also the concept of taking care of things and making multiple backups, online or offline. And oh, dongles on phones are mostly useless since most brands insist on using ubs 2.0 transfer speeds. And yeah, I knew wireless transfer exists but what is wrong with multiple options? Wired/physical transfer also doesn't need a router.
