Say goodbye to the Google Pixel Fold 2 and hello to the Pixel 9 Pro Fold

There has been a naming scheme revamp internally at Google, a new report claims.

I'm actually amazed. I love my Google pixel fold. I can't wait to get the Google pixel 9 fold. I'm actually quite excited, especially how different it is and how it looks I love how the band is gone from the middle of it so when you open it it's a complete shut... yuki93 you know instead of posting a comment like that, you could just move along. Sorry but people like me are very excited for it. Thanks!

Maybe it's believable for the first three generations of Xperia 1/5 (which I won't comment on since I never had the chance to play with them and heard some complaints on the Mk2 and Mk3 models), but there hasn't been much wrong with it since the Mk4, camera included. Even my local close friend who switched from Mk3 Xperia 1 to Mk5 Xperia 1 praised the latter because of the huge improvement being made to it.

YUKI93, 17 Apr 2024I absolutely have no idea what you are blabbering about. My... moreIgnoring your rudeness, quick shots with the Xperia are more often out-of-focus than with other phones. This is widely known and reported. If you take a shot at sundown, you might get more dynamic range and can adjust exposure later, but what appears on the screen does not match what your eye sees. If you tap a moving object or tap a still object and move the camera back and/or to the side, you can lose your focus rectangle easily (which rarely happens on an Alpha camera). The haptics on an Alpha are far superior to the touchscreen interface of the Pro apps. It does take literally 30 seconds to dial in every setting on the Xperia. With physical dials on an Alpha, you can get a near-perfect shot in manual mode in just a few seconds. I believe in my heart you have the ability to notice the color difference between the main and telephoto lens.

Xperia shares about as much of its lineage with Alpha as it does with Walkman. That is to say: none. Sony has excellent mirrorless tech, but the Xperia fails in comparisons with other smartphones as well as comparisons with Alpha.

Anonymous, 16 Apr 2024Surely that award has belonged to Sony for the last few years?!The current Xperia that borrows their Sony Alpha naming scheme? Then all professional cameras have the longest name because most of them using Mark to indicate generations of the camera and Xperia is no different.

Using your logic, then Oneplus phone should be labelled as:

                    "Guangdong Oppo Mobile Telecommunication OnePlus"

Then the longest name should be:

If it's in manual mode with manual settings, I wouldn't even bother to post it all here in the first place because that is purely down to personal preferences.

Totally agree about Samsung. I managed to try out the S24 Ultra camera, and I'm really not impressed with the camera performance. Vivo X100 Pro and Xiaomi 14 Ultra literally leave it in the dust. Dare I say it, even the iPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max shoots better photos than the S24 Ultra, and I'm not a fan of the iPhone in the first place.

My partner currently uses a Sony phone (the Xperia 1 Mk5 to be precise), so it's always easy to borrow his phone for some camera comparison. I will bet their will actually be only *two* phones, The Pixel 9 and the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. They will market the fold as the Pro version instead of an XL and try to make it more mainstream that way
