Your so called condition would apply to 8g2 vs 8g3 where if you look at max power and perf 8g2 is more efficient, but 8g3 is higher perf all the way from low to high watt. Just that 8g3 uses a lot more watt for the extra scores. All scores gb5 multi.

Furthermore, 888 was manufactured by Samsung while the Kirin was made by TSMC. Samsung was 1 generation behind. We saw how big of a difference it was going from Samsung to TSMC with 8G1 and 8+G1. There was a generational difference just from switching to TSMC

And it's actually performance of 2021. And despite using "7-nm" generation process it's doing almost as good as "4-nm" generation SD 8 Gen 1 and MUCH MUCH better than "7-nm" generation SD 865/870.

But still it's not good as the Gen2.
After some models will have a better optimization and they will heat less even with the SD8 Gen1+.

"Too weak" is an excuse. If you tried both of them then the 8+g1 was doing much more work than the 8g1. The efficiency improvements are so huge you wont get overheat in normal use like 8g1.
Its no excuse, the x1 cores use a lot more power to get that big single core score. 888 was on known to be bad samsung node while kirin on tsmc. Maximum scores multi both 888 and 9000 are same. Only the x1 core allows 10-15% faster single.

The Kirin is older and has similar performance.
This is the reason why the us decided to stop them before they go too far.
