Any chinese product should avoid launching at US, like xiaomi and bbk phones. Well i dont really care about tiktok that much, like reels and shorts things, but i dont hate chinese product (im using oneplus and vivo phones). Too greedy to expand to US spell doom for any chinese products.

US: They're not breaching any laws but we're still gonna ban you
                ByteDance: why?!
                US: Because "propaganda"
ByteDance: you gotta be kidding me.

The "propaganda" they're talking about is stupid and just excuse just to ban something they can't have control of. US government needs a reality check. For those who are actually worrying if ByteDance is gonna sell; they won't and are currently trying to argue the bill. US will not budge either way, from seeing how hypocritical they are with this dilemma. I use TikTok and yes, it is a mess but it was a relatable place. On Twitter (not X), it's a massive meltdown everyday. Very weird people. TikTok was fun and it was made by the people for the people. The United States is just mad they can't have something they can't control or censor. ByteDance will not sell. There are better laws to work on here than this app. Fix your gun problem.

Adomas, 25 Apr 2024All the users saying Americans are so evil to do this, reme... moreChina did not ban them. Meta and Google disliked China's cybersecuirty laws so they do not operate there. The Facebook equivalent in China is Weibo. That's also the reason why there's no street view spots on Google Maps in China. Take a look right now.

China ban US apps = evil.

So now US ban tiktok, means US also evil now.

i know i should care, freedom of business and all, i just don't. ant-social media is a load of doo-doo to me. i like to actually see and talk to real people not get duped by bot's and foreign agitators.

Adomas, 25 Apr 2024All the users saying Americans are so evil to do this, reme... moreIt's unbelievable how there are still people that don't know the difference between that, and this situation. TikTok complies with US laws, yet ByteDance is being FORCED to sell it, while the apps banned in China didn't WANT TO comply, so they weren't allowed to work there. It's literally that simple.

                                "Divest to American, or ban."

This kind of optional is fully political issue, as the US gov want to silence those criticizing people in the platform, also ordering to divest is to control what people are and aren't allowed to speak up on the platform like the Meta or lately silenced the X.

The Chinese gov used to ban platforms, but I never heard they threat platforms to divest to theirs.
