The only phone manufacturer that still actually offers things that people still want, instead of just removing features and calling it "progress."

Bob, 03 May 2024lol, that's why they and samsung develop 100+mp sensor... moreThey develop them because it sells. Uneducated people like you see high number and just assume that it means more detail. Meanwhile, Sony's highest end offering with a full frame 35mm format sensor, has a 61MP sensor. Strange considering if phones can resolve 200MP, cameras should be able to resolve atleast 1000MP right? Well spoiler alert they can't. When you get into real cameras, lenses matter far more. Case in point, Sony a6100, I'm using it as an example because I own it. On the surface you think great, it has a 24MP sensor, meaning my images will have 24MP of detail. Only problem with that is the lens can't quite resolve that much. Images are visibly soft when zoomed into 100%. Yet nonetheless, that camera and lens combo (Sony a6100 + Sony E PZ 16-50 3.5-5.6 OSS) can resolve more detail than any phone with a sensor half the resolution of an iPhone 15 Pro Max. Listen, I was like you too once. I'd never used a real camera, I thought it was all sunshine and roses in phone land, and the path to higher quality pictures was more MP. I was proud to own a phone with a 64MP sensor. Then I got a real camera and noticed something really weird. Even when the phone was set to 64MP mode, the real camera still resolved wayyyy more detail with much lower noise! So basically what you're telling me, is that phones have progressed so far in 4 years, that they can now out resolve a top of the line mirrorless camera with 61MP? BS. I don't deny the efficacy of processing. It can be used to bring out subtle details, and even combine images to get a higher quality result, but even with all that trickery, it can never compete with a real camera in detail resolved, even one with "only" 24MP. I suggest if you want high resolution images you buy the Redmi 11, as given the fact it has a 108MP camera, it can resolve more detail than any camera sony has ever released, even more than the cameras professional photographers use, which is very future proofed indeed. You can buy it here :D https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005883205721.html?algo_exp_id=2b6d0ef0-e3e9-4e94-b6e2-0daf382d0bb3-0&pdp_npi=4%40dis%21CAD%21487.25%21204.53%21%21%21348.63%21146.34%21%402101fb1017147603060268599ef606%2112000038592691527%21sea%21CA%210%21AB&curPageLogUid=fk8c1eqNF55N&utparam-url=scene%3Asearch%7Cquery_from%3A

Anonymous, 03 May 2024Seven years of updates on phones that still have 128gb stor... moreYou sell your phone right? Or give it to a relative? So the next user still gets updates. Not a bad thing. And my phone has 512GB. Not an issue at all. Previous one had 256GB. That being said I had Sony Z3. Was much better than any iPhone or Samsung released in that time. And want to add that not everyone knows how to root and install the latest version.

PhoneFreak45, 03 May 2024Plastic lenses will never resolve more than 30MP in a phone... morelol, that's why they and samsung develop 100+mp sensors, because they do not function under the plastic [glass] lenses. they just like to waste money on development for it to be pointless.

hmilles, 03 May 2024thats probably refering to a digital crop on the 48MP pixel... moreThat's not optical then so it's false marketing if so. Sony doesn't usually pull that crap.

PhoneFreak45, 03 May 2024Also See: optical zoom on the main sensor AND telephoto. Is... morethats probably refering to a digital crop on the 48MP pixel binning sensor that most flagships had in the past year or so. it is optical in the sense that its native 12 megapixels at 2x zoom but pixel binning sensors have a specific subpixel arrangement thats optimized for light sensitivity and doesnt provide the same level of detail at full resolution. so its technically native 12MP but not lossless

The 4K is good but I’m glad the 21:9 is gone. A 16:9 4K screen (native resolution and ratio for most video content) would be amazing, just like the Xperia Z5 days.

Anonymous, 03 May 2024Let me know which phone with stereo speakers do not have a ... moreMajority of smartphones today have stereo sound but are using earpiece as top firing with a bottom firing in a hybrid setup, most of these are never balanced well and are never as loud as their spec-sheets suggests, because half the sound travels away from you, not towards you which is a huge advantage even on a less loud front facing stereo sound setup.
Some phones from Xiaomi and Huawei / Honor have bottom and top firing speakers that are really loud, again the sound travels away from you which reduces perceived volume and fullness of sound.

The switch to a bigger chassis allows for better speakers, cameras, etc.
The 1 V was already great, this Mk VI looks like a great successor

PhoneFreak45, 03 May 2024Also See: optical zoom on the main sensor AND telephoto. Is... moreIt maybe good. But I didn't see any excitement about Sony cameras producing any major wins against the likes of Apple and Google and people rushing to buy them. Examples of things which would excite me: a week long battery without increasing weight, phone projecting a 3d holographic image above the display, a DBZ style scouter phone, changeable special backover to convert the phone into a PSP with cooling fans, brand new UI from scratch (something Windows Phone 7 did.The WP7 UI was amazing and I still miss it) etc.
