    Can't you read?
"Cupertino's total revenue was $90.75 billion, 4% down from last year. Net income was $23.63 billion, also down compared YoY."

Also, it has everything to do with money.

First of all, the article name was a little misleading, leading readers like myself to believe that Apple was losing a significant portion of money, when in fact they couldn't be better off now.

Then, that brings to mind - why all the lawsuits with Epic Games, then? It doesn't make sense, unless... it's not about the money.

Think about it - Apple keeps wanting a commission for Epic Games, Spotify, and pretty much ANY app which allows you to pay via Apple devices. They don't NEED the money; they just want to keep a stranglehold over the ecosystem of their devices.

Is it fair? Not really - while Apple does indeed own the services, they can't really do whatever they want to if they want to keep making profits.

The difference is that I'm not going to judge or have an issue with your choice of smartphone OS or make unlike some others in here that tries to force Android down the throat of anyone who says anything even marginally positive about Apple or iPhone 😄.

MindTheGap, 07 May 2024How is Android settings is more complicated than iOS settin... moreHave you ever opened those settings options you mentioned ??

If you do, compare them side by side with an ios device. To me ios is much simpler and more logically laid out with less ambiguous language.

You said you are a physician, are you sure about that???

Cz you seem to have a hard time grasping the concept of autonomy which is one of the core principles of Medicine!

To out it simply, if someone wants and loked an iPhone, let them. If someone wants an Android, let them have one.

What basically happens in the gsmarena comments section is that anytime anyone expresses their preference for an IPhone, iOS, or say something (truly)positive about an Apple device, that person is considered to be misinformed, stupid, not having enough exposure about available devices and financially irresponsible etc, by default.

Regardless of your choice of smartphone platform, of you're a Physician as you say, (someone who's job depends on pattern recognition), this bias/ inequality should be obvious to you.

If your Google android manufacturers are truly God tier and represent the people as you say, go ahead and tell them to

              - bring back removable batteries
              - start including headphone jacks with dedicated high end DACs even on their highest end devices
              - start including micro SD card slots on their highest end devices again

and see if they listen to you. Atm they are just following the big baaaad Apple lol!

MindTheGap, 07 May 2024How is Android settings is more complicated than iOS settin... moreNo offence but the Samsung account login setting with a notification bubble is the #1 in my settings list.

Average person won't ever get to the developer settings and find the sensors off setting on android. And despite enabling that on my previous Android, after one particular 'security update', it started to allow the camera and the mic to record!! This is a serious breach of trust and privacy , at least to me.

Ios shows you the exact servers the apps made connections to and how many. You'll need something like Blokada on android just to see that data.

Blokada also backs up what I said about the frequency of data collection; android >>> ios.

Both parties do of course but google does so both at a frequency and a magnitude much bigger than Apple!
There have been many independent studies done on Androids and iphones with comparable os versions and what I just stated was proven in those tests!

Your conveniently seems to ignore the fact that Google is a data company that profits by selling data so they would try to gather as much data as possible whereas Apple is a hardware company at its heart with some services provided. They don't need as much data , just what is necessary to improve their services, again backed up by those test results!

Out of your reasons 2 and 4 are valid. There are good reasons for 4 to be a thing (hint: the excellent ecosystem that is mentioned in 2, what xiaomi has is nothing compared to the apple eco system although they are improving for sure).

Reasons 1 and 3 are bogus, sorry. I person who would spend no more than 100$ for a smartphone is unlikely to cate about the finer things of smartphone usage including the UI we are debating about. Such a person is even more unlikely to go ahead and buy a 800+$ iPhone

And privacy on an android out of the box is better than iOS ?? Dude please, stop lying to yourself!! I am typing this on an Android and just after seeing your comment I went ahead to Settings> Google> Personalise using shared data> and funnily enough, the *Device Contacts* and *External Media* had turned itself back on regardless of how many times I switch that off lol! The official Google help site has the thread on this topic LOCKED without any answer whatsoever and that question has come up since like 2021!!
And this is on my device where I dug through for hours , referring online articles and turning off invasive settings. Imagine the situation on an android out of the box lol!

On my iPhone, once I turn off settings according to my preferences, they stay OFF until a major ios version update is installed! Not the case with googel android bud, sorry you're talking out of your rear on this issue!

Reality..., 06 May 2024What if people like iOs because you know, freedom of choice... more> Maybe they like the iPhone and its and yet don't want all the 'openness'of android or its customizability???
They're also the one that complained when it took them a long and harder time to customize the icons on iOS. Or when they're unable to put the icons everywhere on the homescreen. It's not like people would stop iOS just because it becomes more customizable.
The same goes to sideloading, which will comes to iOS in EU area many tmes from now. Hate it whatever you want, but does that makes stop using iOS? No right?
Also, there are 4 actual reason why many people prefer iPhone:
                      1. Bad experience with their $100 Android phone. So when they switched to a better and pricier iPhone, they easily draw the conclusion that the iPhone is better than Android.
                      2. Locked in Apple ecosystem. They're too afraid to jump outside the box and tried something better.
                      3. "X in iPhone is better than the one on Android" doctrine. X can be camera, privacy, data collection, RAM management, photo on social media, optimisation, etc. None of them are true.
                      4. Brand, brand, and brand. You will receive a more "wow" reaction if you use a $800 iPhone rather than a $1200 Xiaomi, no matter how good your Xiaomi is.

However, just like you suggested people to use an android in a simple way, why don't you think a person would like to use their iPhone in that simpler way too???

Google is an Af company. Apple is a hardware and services company (hardware first ). Which one do you think a non tech save user can trust to use out of the box without signing away their rights to (even a semblance of) privacy ???

Ubuntu mobile is complex and is almost dead.

Sailfish OS : I loved it but it is again complex to set up and doesn't have much support regardless of what people say.

I had a Vivo, have an A54 and an iPhone 14 series.
From my personal experience, setting up the iPhone was a matter of logging into the Apple account whereas with the A54, had to go through many bs Samsung options and prompts rejecting them before even logging into the Google account. Even then, there were.instances where the phone started to overheat because the playstore was stuck trying to decide between downloading and updating the android apps that already came pre installed on the phone!!
Don't even get me started on the settings menu, it is a nightmare to navigate through that to find a setting you're looking for, thank god for that search option. The iOS menu is pretty straightforward in comparison (and it's not lacking in options either so it is simply better laid out!).
I'm NOT saying android is bad. I'm just saying that I can see some people preferring iOS for its straightforward UI.
I myself used to be a tinkerer of Android before I got tired of it due to age and also increased responsibilities and as a result, less time on my hands.

FYI, I'm no tech expert, just a former geek who's currently working in a similar profession.

What I'm disappointed by is the blatant anti-Apple consensus in this comment section. It's almost as if people can't exercise their free will and speak positively about their platform of choice.

The moment someone speaks positively about Apple, the android bot army comes to life trying to school them about how apple is the worst thing ever and how iPhones are objectively bad lol.

I am.not an ape fan boy and I despise some practices of apple such as making their new M1 and M2 mac books just potential e waste with those soc ssds that get worn out with use and their price gouging for ssd and ram upgrades. Not to mention the failure of a butterfly keyboard on macs from several years prior.

But the iPhone is their best product so far ( comparatively) and is an objectively decent device that would fit the use case of a significant number of people in this world and it is reflected in the sales ( yeah I know.sales. dropped by 10% but still, its the best selling device in most developed countries for a reason.)

I think Gsmarena forums need better moderation.
