Jzgerardus, 15 May 2024See a lot of people with S Ultra's stillHavent seen a single one yet, just sometimes S24 and older S23 Ultras, not even Iphone max, just a few Pros...
Not a single one Chinese top offerings.

People are buying less expensive offerings nowadays. Midrangers to eventually cheaper flag offers.

All top offerings from any OEM are about 1300-1600 e these days. Very few sales.

Mills, 15 May 20241500 USD (1399 euros) for a 256GB 1080p LTPO OLED...geez I&... moreSony should have dropped the price, fact.

But that 4K display ran at 1080p most of the time, only in camera app and when playing videos in certain supported apps (a small list I can tell you) is used the full 4K.

S24U is a great phone, I have it.

But it would do Sony a lot of injustice to complain about drop of the resolution on new Mark 1, compared to Samsung being "better" but ignoring how poor Samsung camera really is compared to Sony (disclaimer, Pixel and iPhone still stand above Sony on that regard)

And no I am not going to start about stuff like better battery life, 3.5mm, microsd and so on on Sony.

Neither I will start about OneUI being a fine skin (but I hate the fact how Samsung is aggressively pushing their stuff above what Google already provides and does better)

        1500 USD (1399 euros) for a 256GB 1080p LTPO OLED...geez I'm sure I'm loving life right now.

        A 1200 or 1300p display would've been better. S24U offers 1440p and so does S24+.

Good? Yes. Overpriced? Yes. Should you buy it? If you want.

I was a huge fan of the 1 V last year, but reports about often UI glytches and the lack of LTPO-technology made me wait for the 1 VI (still using the Huawei Mate 10 Pro from 2018!).
On paper it all sounds good, but the Display with "only" 396 ppi makes me a bit nervous. So far, Xiaomi 14 is my favorite for 2024!

There was supposed to be the new "Sony’s New Camera Authenticity Solution" that is offered on the Alpha cameras also for Xperia 1 VI.

                    Any news on that?

Really wish they launch these in India! 🤞

This is probably the first time I'm disappointed as Sony fan with the Sony announcement.

This Xperia 1 VI is literally a Xperia 5 VI. Not a complete flagship I anticipated.
The only difference between 1 and 5 segment were (except the Mark V gens for whatever bad reasons) resolution, size and price. Now, 1 VI comes with 5 VI specs for 1400€? If 5 segmetn is present it would have cost 999€.
FHD display is not something I expect in flagship segment (4K haters can go buy chinese or samsung). Imagine in 2024, someone offers you 4K LCD display TV as their flagship TV.

I'm either worried that this could be the end of Xperia line (same atmosphere when LG laucnhed their last) or like a phase where their TV segment has no flagship QD-OLED TVs releasing this year 2024.

PS: I always wanted the best industry can offer and been using Xperia 1 II, Sony A90J, PS5 and HT-A7000 soundbar.

                            Not even 1440p is ridiculous.

Very disappointed no 21:9 standard format instead we get black borders or cuts on screen again like on any other android device.
No 4k in YouTube /Amazon/Netflix with higher bit rate and overall img quality
                                Slightly better Camera
Price is the same but from 4k nr1 Flagship screen we going to 1080p above everyone
Buying xperia 1 V and i will use it for next 8 years

I'm a fan of Japanese brands. First Panasonic/Technics but in Europe, only Sony remains for a long time. I buy every new top of the line. I prefer the colors (I remember the many purples) but indeed the khaki green is much too discreet. Sony didn't get tired. 3 same colors except a Sublime red but only for Japan (In Japan 3 variants from memory and released on June 21). So it will be Platinum Silver (like my headphones). I hope that the announced date will be the real one (before mid-June) for Europe. Do you know if the Pro is permanently canceled?

A bit pricey, I was hoping for it to go at about 1.300€ but Sony doesn't want to drop their prices ever. It still is one of the best offerings on the market imo
