Anonymous, 15 May 2024Even if sony was 1000 euros and samsung 1500 euros, S24u wo... moreIn this case, no sane person would spend over 1k for a far worse display than last 5 generations. Your logic only works if it competetive compared to last year model or with existing flagships. Only way to go here is cut the price just like it was obvious that they cut the cost. Simply call it Xperia 5 with reduced size instead of 1 and price at 5 segment price, otherwise charge 1450€ like iPhone does in europe but give it all when it comes to flagship.. This is coming from a Sony xperia fan/user.

        5.5"
        6.5"
        7.5"
        will be appreciated.

Anton .el PAPI., 15 May 2024Are you going to compare the s24 ultra, which is much more ... moreS24 Ultra is no match with even 4 years older Xperia 1 ii. Her tracking focus is too inaccurate and slow to follow a 3 years old kid or pets.

YUKI93, 15 May 2024*laughs in Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra's £1,249 price tag*Even if sony was 1000 euros and samsung 1500 euros, S24u would still sell much more.
Pricing below other is just way to lose money.

Cutting 20% of price requires sales to increase over 25% just to make same revenue. But in this case, expenses would be higher. Less money in their pockets in the end

Sony uses 12MP portion of 40MP 1/1.7" sensor. Imx650 used by huawei 4-5 years ago. By P/mate 30 series.

More expensive than a S24 ultra? Considering you can get a S24 ultra for £900 for 256gb model now if you shop around. More camera's, higher resolution display, anti glare screen, S-Pen, 7 years of updates too. Its a no brainer

at that price, software support should be the same as pixel or at least 5 years

                            >1080p

Now this is some Asus tier blunder. QHD is not necessary but FHD+ is. Even APPLE knows it! If even Apple has their base iPhone 15 with a sharper screen, you know it's a huge L from a company.

                            >1/3.5" zoom sensor

for context even Samsung's main zoom cam is larger now, what is sony doing here? Who cares SO MUCH about more zoom actually? I think if they did a 2.5 or 3x-5x zoom cam and made the sensor at least 1/2.55" with a 50 MP sensor (or the JN1), they could've done better job on a hardware level and with cropping they could've gotten respectable 2x crop.

Credit where credit is due, insane work by Sony to have made such a wide continuous zoom range. But this should've been a prototype, not the main flagship, with its tiny sensors. It's cool as a tech showpiece, but it's not cool as a product.

                            >48 MP mode

why do people need to upgrade to a new phone just to be able to have access to a full res mode? The last phone had the same sensor, so is it just exclusive for the new phone or will it come by an update to the older one? If it ain't coming to the older one, WOW, that's some Apple level move.

                            >cooling
Finally! Great job Sony, took you long enough but at least you did it.

                            >Better speakers
Honestly, the only thing that they need is slightly better tuning and mostly better distortion handling. Their speakers clip a lot, hearing them on the GSMArena audio samples.

This is a new low, I used to think the 1 V was a bad product in terms of value but this is just horrendous.

Y'all in the EU are so entitled complaining about only getting 256GB of storage. Just add a microSD card just like back in the good old days. Here in America, we don't even get Sony phones anymore, and imports won't work on our networks.

namco, 15 May 2024first of all, they want to keep the size down. they don... moreI'm a sony fan and I loved my Xperia 1 II with 4K resolution and I'm still using it (not a fan of switching phones for every 2-3 years). But this year Xperia 1 VI is 5 VI in disguise with 1400€ price tag. I expect this year 1 VI to be priced rather at 5 segment price since it is obvious that they have cut their cost in many segments. I'm afraid they gonna end up like LG since their last launch had similar vibes.

Any Sony fan shouldn't support these recent moves from 4K or with LED notifcation light. These are the only unique features that kept it alive since Xperia 1 introduction. Yes charge 1450€ like iPhone does in europe but give it all when it comes to flagship. Otherwise just call it a Xperia 5 segment not 1.
