Darth Caesium, 21 May 2024If these companies weren't stagnating, they'd be ... moreImagine the size of the camera bump on that. Maybe it would be better to consider the standard model if the cameras on the Pros just keep growing for the sake of being the biggest and highest end. It won’t make a lot of difference anyway as the processing will ruin the pictures either way.

TBH, camera hardware is usually fairly good on iPhones, but Apple processing just cripples the end results. New hardware is nice, but not having tinted yellow people in frame, decent dynamic range, consistent white balance would be even more appreciated.

"The former is supposed to get a new 48MP ultrawide camera with better capabilities, while the latter is also getting the 15 Pro Max' 5x Tetraprism telephoto module."
The former should have been the latter, and vice versa.

Now that the ultrawide is getting a bigger sensor, they can go in a 0.5x, 1.2x, and 5x configuration.

If these companies weren't stagnating, they'd be bringing more changes forward in 1 generation. Apple needs to not only use the IMX 903 (48MP 1/1.12"-type Exmor T) for the main camera in the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max (which they'll only do with iPhone 17 series), but they also should've used a larger sensor than 1/2.6"-type for the upcoming 48MP ultrawide, and the periscope telephoto's sensor should've also been upgraded to the IMX 858, since it is neither Quad Bayer nor big enough (1/3.06"-type is a complete joke, that's why 5× zoom on this is barely better than on their 3× telephoto with digital zoom applied on top).

jiyen235, 21 May 2024>be apple >have a 2x telephoto on the 12 Pro and 2.5... moreConstant updates = incrementally introducing features that existed for too long on other products and market them like they were just made yesterday.

IOS 18 would allow more freedom in arranging homescreens. Lmao. It's being featured like a brand new innovation.

Apple has a solid roadmap and ever since the X series, it feels like the phones have made calculated upgrades, not too much or too little.

jiyen235, 21 May 2024>be apple >have a 2x telephoto on the 12 Pro and 2.5... moreThe smaller Pro seems to lack behind because of space constraints. The 13 Pro got much heavier to accommodate the 3x while improving battery life, and the 16 Pro will get heavier and bigger to fit the 5x. With the 12 Pro, they had a strategy to share batteries and case compatibility between 12 and 12 Pro. But then they gave up on that with the 13 Pro by giving it a much larger camera island design than the 13.

Djellal, 21 May 2024Thannkfully Chinese oems exist so i fortunately don't ... moreAnd there is also Sony, nothing, not everything can be this trio, Samsung, Apple and Google!! Luckily there is Xiaomi, BBK group and Huawei is returning to the game little by little...

So basically the max will get an improved ultrawide. All the other phones will just get something the one above already had...except 120hz. It's like hand-me-downs.

                          >be apple
                          >have a 2x telephoto on the 12 Pro and 2.5x on the 12 pro max
                          >Upgrade the 13 Pro with a 3x
                          >everyone loves it

                          >Have a 3x on the 15 Pro and a 5x on the 15 Pro Max

                          >Innovation

Yeah man, Apple's strategy is great. It would feel like they have a constant rate of updates going on. Whatever you say about Apple, their stagnation is far better and more "acceptable" than others (like Google and Samsung). Samsung does random stuff and the S series still has more sales and Google doesn't even know what to do, judging by how they software-lock features of the 8 Pro and how close the 7 and 7a were and how the 8 and 8a are closely priced after discounts. Weird stuff happening.
