24 May 2024
The maker turns to another provider as iFixit claims parts prices was the major reason.

what's point of risking your phone in self repair rather than, just getting it repaired for $15-20 in an experienced repair center?

punmeisterone, 24 May 2024It's also because Samsung actually destroys the phones... moreAs the article says it applies to US repair shops, they don't know about in Europe. I would suggest that such a contract would be illegal in EU.

      https://samsungparts.com/ website is a joke...
You do not have anything related to smartphones there, a similar website but not even sure if it is official... https://parts-samsung.com/ doesnt have the most important part for s23 ultra which is the screen and absolutely nothing for s24 ultra.

      So yeah....

Watch UFD Tech Samsung’s Terrible At Repair

Watch on Louis Rossmann video on how Samsung has screwed over customers time and time again, Samsung is basically the apple of the android market.

Anonymous, 24 May 2024You clearly didn't read the article. Samsung is ending... moreThe article itself in't clear samsung never really wanted anything from ifixit.. why they would when they could do by themselves.. it was just limited contract which was signed b4.. It never brought anything to samsung only was to promote ifixit.. or make them sales..

iFixit.com Stop the lies, ifixit was always about apple hence the name ifixit. you included Samsung as an afterthought. Frankly speaking Samsung is easy to repair than Apple. All apple products are tough to repair, the repairability score of apple is close to zero so i wonder why you are stopping Samsung it doesn't make sense. You just want to be an all Apple repair website that's the truth.

FatShady, 24 May 2024why sell parts for a small profit margin when you can sell ... moreS23 Ultra Display Replacement Kit:

From 3rd Party: $285 (original part)

                        From Samsung: $309 (original part)

                        Markup: 8.5%

why sell parts for a small profit margin when you can sell them for twice as much?

Poster, 24 May 2024Their own.. that is just sending phone to samsung or mobile... moreYou clearly didn't read the article. Samsung is ending this third party option to favor it's own parts site where you can go for these repairs (buy parts, install).

Same old. Same old. Slow Friday (EDT)

It's also because Samsung actually destroys the phones during the repair process, backup the user's data into their servers and then issuing a new phone with the backed up data.

This is so wrong, both morally and legally speaking.

And samsung hiring now companies to do the repairs in mass.
AM trying to explain ppl don't go to some small phone shop with latest mobiles.. but with old ones only where repair cost 30 or 50 max 100 ... Absolutely not bad for them.. same like apple they will simply receive broken phones and those which are reparable will repair and those which arent are simply recycled and made new ones.

These giant companies don't do the right thing by themselves. They have to be forced by legislation despite how much they cry about it.

But good on them for showing their true colors about repairability. It's really bad for business. xD

Knew it it won't last.. Phone repairs for 3rd party will soon be over.. and there will be just replacement .. So end user will just send phone to samsung and samsung will give them new or upgrade for same amount of money what repair will cost
some ifixit is stupidly expensive for naive.. never ever bought anything from them..
