Samsung will neglect some of its cameras no more.

Most people don't care about this camera nonsense you guys always argue about. Whenever an iphone person sees my phone, they start going on about Samsung taking the best pic's. Not one of them are switching. It's not even a consideration.

It happens so frequently, I find myself letting them know Samsung is not the best. They are amongst the best. Doesn't make any difference. Especially when you're talking about phones from China they never heard or care to know of.

I love having longer zoom reaches, because it allows me to take photos of things that I cannot get closer to, like foxes (they're quite common to see after a certain time in parts of the UK). Plus, I would be able to take so much more macro pictures if my telephoto could do macro (though I did manage to recently take an extremely good picture of a leaf weevil on my knee using my ultrawide's macro capabilities).

I honestly would love to see the opinions of this site's users on what's the most important lens for them, since there's bound to be a lot of differing opinions based on different priorities, needs and wants.

I'd like to request GSMARENA to do a poll between "ultra-wide", "normal", and "telephoto" lenses on smartphones to see how important each is to consumers. I see many companies trying to sell people on improvements to their "ultra-wide" lenses but I don't believe people really care.

They need to focus on their processing and not ludicrous specs for the billboards. Skin is too soft, still, even with all the updates turned off/on. Cannot track a moving child. Stop with the 200mp sensor, it's just too large to stack the photos in time to avoid blur. There's a reason Google and Apple have stuck to 50MP sensors maximum, and they both spank the S23U for photos.

Anonymous, 27 May 2024Yeah, with the space taken by the pen, surely there is room... moreThere is if you increase the camera bump, which Samsung is going to massively change the design of with the S25 series anyway. The current one is not very practical for something like this, but it can definitely be done if you slightly increase the thickness of the phone and the camera bump. If the telephoto cannot use a 1/2.0"-type sensor like I'd specified and has to use a 1/2.51"-type sensor instead, it would still be fine.

Or, even better, if LG's patent on that variable telephoto has expired (which it looks like it's going to be soon), Samsung could get rid of the dual telephoto setup and instead opt to do a 3-5× variable telephoto, using either a 1/2.0"-type or 1/2.51"-type sensor (don't know whether 1/2.0"-type could be done, but the variable telephoto actually doesn't take up much space, so it might be possible).

The phones with 50MP 1 inch sensors take way better pictures than Samsung's 200MP 1/1.3" sensor does, not to mention everyone else has better short range telephotos and ultrawides. I have an X90 Pro+ and photos from all 4 of its cameras are usually better than my S23U's in every single way

The performance of the main camera isn't good enough, right now, especially at night. That should clearly be their main focus instead of trying to improve 2 cameras that people only use for like 5% of the shots

How do you call changing the Telephoto and ultra wide into 1/2.51 sensor "A massive upgrade" thought it's a big thing like 200MP Telephoto or 1" Sensor

Those are going to be the best cameras ever, you'll see. You'll love them!

These are considered massive camera upgrades? Apart from what is being said here, they should add closer focusing capabilities to both telephotos (they already can do macro, but that could still be improved upon) and to the main camera (would be an industry first); make the main camera use a 1/1.12"-type sensor, a 26mm focal length and a 50MP resolution; make the ultrawide use a 1/2.0"-type sensor; make the 3× telephoto use a periscope-style lens, an f/2.3 aperture, a 78mm focal length and a 1/2.0"-type sensor; make the 5× telephoto use a 130mm focal length and an f/2.8 aperture; and make the selfie camera use the 50MP 1/2.74"-type Samsung ISOCELL JN1 (or JNS) sensor. That is a tangible list of upgrades that also wouldn't be difficult to put inside a phone like this.

Plus, 23mm is too wide to use as the main camera. Since part of Samsung's brand identity was the 26mm focal length, it only makes sense for them to go back to that instead of this 23mm nonsense.

Additionally, they should do variable focal aperture, but that might be harder to fit into said phone, so I didn't put that above there. Regardless, they need to do this one at some point anyway.
