jiyen235, 27 May 2024Find X8 Ultra with 5400 mah+ battery and variable aperture ... moreThe OV64b performs excellently on the find X7. Actually, I think the OV64b is very suited to daytime pics as the 16mp binned pics can offer more detail than 12.5mp ones from a 50mp sensor. The OV64b is also better for longer zoom levels. There would be absolutely no point in changing to lyt600 as that is only marginally bigger (almost a negligible size difference) and you would likely get worse pics at hyprid zoom levels. For sure the imx890 on the x7 ultra is superior in lowlight but the OV64b is better than the 3/3.2x on other ultra phones like the s24 ultra/Xiaomi 14 ultra. I think they could just keep the OV64b and improve the aperture a bit. I tried the 0ppo find x7 and find x7 ultra last weekend as I am thinking about getting one of them and transfered aver 60 photos and video samples to my phone to have a look at on a large screen when I got home. the biggest thing the x8 needs to work on is video quality as there is not a big gap in photo quality in indoor environments at least between it and the ultra but the gap in video quality is very large. The x7 ultra has superb video quality at 4k30 and 4K60fps but the x7 has weak video quality. It's okish at 4k30 but drops a lot at 4k 60fps where it is soft and almost a bit blurry. Not sure if this has anything to do with the Dimensity processor and OPPO not being able to optimize the video as well with that. Would be interesting to compare with the Oneplus 12 to see if that has better or worse video quality with the same sensors but snapdragon 8 Gen 4

Anonymous, 27 May 2024Latest gossip says X8 and X8 Ultra with D9400 There may be 3 models this year according to rumors in China. One with a flat screen. Most likely the ultra will still use the snapdragon 8 Gen 4 but the find x8 will definitely use the dimensity 9400 as will the middle model (guess it will be a pro)

'The Find X8 should become official in October, just after the Snapdragon Summit where Qualcomm is unveiling the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC.' The Find x8 will use the dimensity 9,400 not the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 reportedly being less efficient isn't great. Qualcomm should work on improving efficiency as well as speed, especially when Qualcomm charges an insane amount of money for these chips.
The weight of phones is going to become silly with massive batteries. Personally, 190g is as much as I want my phone to weigh. Anything over 200g is just silly.

Bigger battery does not mean heavier it all depends on the energy density/chemistry

Anonymous, 27 May 2024Latest gossip says X8 and X8 Ultra with D9400 wouldn't really care honestly. The X100 Pro proved the Dimensity 9300 can be an excellent and efficient chip and there won't be much problems with the ISP since they have the marisilicon ISP I think. And performance has been fine since the 8 gen 2, no one NEEDS more peak performance, we need more sustained performance ig. All I care about is battery, thermals and stability. If the minimum speed of the phone is 8 Gen 1 level and it can maintain it without getting hot like 36 degrees or more, then it's great for me at least.

The mAh race will only go up to about 28000mAh because after that, it is too big for airplanes (100Wh). I‘d rather not have more than 5000mAh because phones with such a rating are already too heavy in 99% of cases

Find X8 Ultra with 5400 mah+ battery and variable aperture is going to be phone of the year and I might just buy it even if it's Chinese. The Find X8 though NEEDS a 1/1.3" or larger main sensor and the telephoto needs to be either the 1/1.56" one from the Find X6 OR the LYT-600 or something better/bigger. The Find X7 felt like a downgrade.
The GT5 Pro was a strong showing in terms of battery and the GT6 Pro might be the most balanced one out of all of them, hope they make a global release so people can appreciate it more.
Hope the Oneplus 13 just iterates and keeps the price low, a 512 GB version for the same price with the same camera/display hardware would be an insanely good value. Oneplus could, instead of improving the hardware, utilize a separate ISP like the Marisilicon in the Oppo. That'd be sick and easily make it the best phone of the year without much hardware changes.
