Nokia should look to Android to stay afloat, analyst says

I have said this going on two years now and i am no expert. Many on various forums have said the same but yet Elop is not listening. As good as the recent crop of Nokia devices are, if they were running Android they won't be languishing on store shelves as they are now. Even some Nokia investors have made it known to Elop that Nokia has to do something to rectify the current trajectory of the company but yet Elop the former Microsoft man as i understand has stuck his head in the sand. All the other Windows OEMs make both Windows and Android phones, SO WHY CAN'T NOKIA DO THE SAME. In my view if Nokia adopted this approach it stands a better chance to be the best threat to Samsung's dominance on Android sphere. All the foot dragging by Elop from seeing what many of us lay ppl see, might end up costing Nokia. It doesn't mean Nokia should abandon Windows but simply it MUST cross over and make some Android phones. As a former Nokia man now turned Android man, and should add there are millions of us...this will be the perfect scenario for us...get back the more improved Nokia and our fav OS of choice Android. To Elop...i hope you are listening to all these pleas...don't wait till the situation is un-salvageable. PUT NOKIA'S SURVIVAL FIRST BEFORE ANY DEAL WITH MICROSOFT. I love Nokia and Android, time to bring them together...GOOD LUCK

Samsung has mastered Android already. They know how to make the "perfect" Android device. Nokia's inexperience and unfamiliarity with Android won't make them put out a device as powerful as an SGS4. Nokia can only compete with Samsung with a different platform which is Windows Phone not on the same OS.

Rubbish.
Nokia has WP8 phones, any other company except BlackBerry already uses Android as their main OS. There's a worldwide market based on choices. Yes, I do agree that when (if ever) Nokia would ALSO adopt Android alongside WP8 (which I can't imagine as long as Nokia and Microsoft are working closely together, they will increase their sales. Personally I'm not waiting for that, I like WP8 and I prefer it over Android. WHen Nokia adopts Android as well, Samsung will have a problem for sure. Firstly, the ex-Symbian user who switched over to Android will go back to Nokia anytime, so Samsung will loose that part of the marketshare, and it's a pretty big part as most Symbian users now use Samsung devices. Secondly, Samsung is the company that made Android big as it is right now, and the most Android users have used a Nokia Phone before. No doubt a huge number of people will switch back to Nokia, as their solid hardware is many times better in comparison to Samsung.
Conclusion, will Nokia survive without Android? Yes. Is it good for Nokia sales to eventually adopt Android alongside WP8? I think so, yes. Do I need a Nokia running Android? No, not a chance. Do other people need/want that? Yes.

I will purchase NOKIA once again if they really want to adopt with Android OS.
As a brand NOKIA is my fav & OS defiantly Android.
So when that two giant meet, surely they'll beat any other competitor. Eagerly waiting for the positive step from NOKIA.

Nokia just bought the Siemens part of NSN and increased their value, yet you post news like this?
Then, you can get a 13 megapixel quad core Chinese Android for 200€. Soon, Samsung will be in problems too because it'd overpriced.
Also, people buy 600€ Androids but 95% of paid apps are illegally downloaded. When high-end Androids become available for 200€, who will buy apps, and how long will Google continue developing Android when there's no profit in it?

Every body says that WP is growing butno.body knows the rational behind it..the main reason is Nokia ..however after using itz disapointing the customers ..i do not why elops has taken MeeGo out since it was very successful also it had itz own potential in future , now Ex nokian`s have made sailfish and it seems promising OS. Therefore nokia should not wait untill die, even now nokia can change the smartphones story and win the market if they adopt sailfish or android since android dominates 70% of mktshare..on the other hand sailfish seems promising and can run android apps..decision is do or die..nokia we report you decide.

I have to wonder if these Analyst suffer from Amnesia the only Manufacturer REALLY making a profit is Samsung if Nokia makes an Android it would be lost rather its TOTALLY COMMITTED to Windows to innovate and compete hey if you want both worlds buy a Nokia Lumia 920 or 925 or Galaxy S4 case closed

Nokia should use both WP8 AND Android, because I think almost every Android-user, including me, want to but a 41 MP cameraphone from Nokia if it use Android, but I think that Microsoft does not allow Nokia to use Android even though they allow Samsung and HTC... to use both WP8 AND Android!
