PSA: It's okay to have bezels as you need the neutral zone provided by them to actually hold the device ( especially with a single hand) from an edge.

And they wonder why they're struggling with profitability. Years without innovation or effort. R&D budgets cut to shreds with token upgrades to seem vaguely comparable with Apple.

The bezels look extremely thick here because it is zoomed in, but they are the same as the Z5 with the exception of the corners. It looks like Sam made it symmetrical all around the phone which is good. On the prior Z's it was always a little thicker in the corners. The bezels are necessary for the case. If not, it would have nowhere to sit and protect the front screen.

Again, this is only a problem for people not buying this phone. The battery capacity is something to actually complain about.

Anonymous, 29 May 2024Not with a phone at this price. Even worse, their own S2... moreDon't see why you aren't complaining about it on S24 Ultra - literally nearly the same size.

          bezel are overrated

22:9 ? The Sony Xperia 1 V was 21:9 and that was too narrow for me to type on. How is 22:9 wider? The current width must be 25:9 to say 22:9 is WIDER🤔

How not to refine an existing smartphone and long gone the under display camera on main screen.....

Rosso, 29 May 2024Android fanboys are something special, they will complain a... moreIf I pay almost 2000 dollars for a phone, which is enough to quite literally buy not 1, but TWO RTX 4080 Supers, the bezels better be thinner than last years.

Accepting 60hz on a 800 USD/euro phone is wild and tragic. On top of that, no telephoto.

More like practical bezel , the display submerge inside frame , 100times more durable than curved edge display

Firstly, make the cover screen 19.5:9, with a resolution of 3120×1440, not this ridiculous 22:9. Secondly, make the bezels as thin as the S24 and S24+, which is 1.52mm exactly. Thirdly, make the corners as rounded as the S24 and S24+. Fourthly, do something about the bezels on the inner screen, like with Tecno's Borderless Foldable Main Screen, which would actually also allow you to use more of the internal space for the same amount of thickness (better cameras, bigger battery, etc.). Fifthly, give it the same camera setup as the S24 Ultra, since it's much more expensive than that phone but gets a garbage camera setup. Sixthly, make the S-Pen work on both screens. Seventhly, increase the battery capacity to 5,000mAh, and make it have 80W fast wired charging, 50W fast wireless charging, and 50W fast reverse wireless charging.

Before anyone says, "Oh, but they'll be launching a Z Fold 6 Ultra, this won't work!", I don't think that should exist. Samsung has ridiculous profit margins on the Z Fold series, and they need to have better everything, there's no excuse. Have their profit margins decrease, it should work very well for them in the [slightly] longer-term when they're much ahead of everyone else. Companies become complacent when they become monopolies, which is ultimately always their downfall. Only the paranoid survive, only the ones that still massively improve their products when they're ahead of their competition by quite a lot, because such a move can force their competitors to go bankrupt by failing to catch up in time and requiring them to splurge even more R&D money into their business when their profits are already looking shaky. And, I can bet you for sure that if Samsung actually tried with their entire product stack (and got rid of some of it, since they have way too many phones to the point where they're competing with themselves, just like Xiaomi) and made them competitive, people would buy new phones sooner.

They could put the selfie camera into the bezel if the bezel was supposed to become that thick. Either maje thin bezels with notch or thick bezels without notch.

Remember those people whining over removing removable battery? If non-removable battery never made a came back, all of it will never come back.

Samsung has no competition in foldable space outside of China, it's clear that practical monopoly they got is making them complacent. Worst thing is, only company that could shake them up is Apple, but you know Apple would charge even more for their foldable so Samsung would barely improve theirs.

All of this could have been avoided if Huawei still was where they were in 2019, or Xiaomi picked up their place fully after, but here we are, getting mediocre devices, for astonishing prices.
