Nokia Comes With Music launched in UK, leaves mixed impressions

The first "all you can eat" music download service that lets users copy tracks to any device with no strings attached has launched in the UK today. Unlike Nokia Comes With Music, the Datz Music Lounge is all in MP3 and therefore doesn’t tie you up with a particular device. Actually, sim-free from the Nokia Store, it is 160 GBP, 130 being the network subsidised version

Less hassle?? You have to PAY for them on iTunes...
In terms of value, if you bought the 2.5 million songs in the Nokia Comes with Music catalogue at 79p on iTunes that would cost you £1,975,000...as opposed to the cost of the original Nokia Comes with Music handset...a saving of a few million IS a lot of hassle...
For an additional cost, users can also have the option to burn them to CD.
But come on, for the cost of approx £129.99, with the option to download as many songs as you want...it's a good deal.

has been doing so in Australia for over a month.
however the issue for me is that the software causes my SEW880i(a supported handset)to just switch off.
however- i have not had that problem today, so i must be in luck.

Just seems less hastle when you can:
*dowload albums from i-tunes,
*rip them to cd,
*then re-rip them from the cd to MP3 format if you want to bluetooth, etc.
Nice idea Nokia, only better executed by others.

Exisiting handsets cannot be upgraded with the Nokia Comes with Music unlimited download software, if it did not come with it originally.

Man, there are a lot of morons on this site. It's a shame people don't appreciate the propostition that Nokia are giving their customers and I think it's down to the fact where we live in an age where people steal music.
When you take in the consideration that the handset is going to retail for around £129.99 and you get to download as many tracks as you want...it isn't half bad.
Unlimited, LEGAL access to music. It's an exciting propostition.

Maybe the purpose of this new service is to lessen piracy. However, it is that same poison called piracy that will eventually kill this service. Sad truth.

i have paid for a single album 4 times with the DRM limited to one pc use, and still can't listen to one track from the album. i had to resort to ripping a friend's album, because i had spent AUD$69 on that one album already.
limewire is terrible with downloads, and what's more- it is illegal, even when you pay for the limewire pro, since no-one has legal content on limewire anyways. i wasted money on that too.
recently i did the musicpro with vodafone, where for $11.95/month i can get as much music as i like, except it is limited to my phone only. and the software keeps making my SE W880i switch off.
so when it comes down to DRM music 3 strikes and i am out.

why are you surprise about the copyright protection? its there for legal purposes. if nokia did not put copyright protection in the tracks the record companies will shut them down.
