A truly bezeless front wouls be curves on all sides. The bezels include the outer frame as well.
Though I believe thinner bezels than the s24 and iphone 15 pro aren't needed at all, and are probably detrimental to the phone itself. Unless they develop some bouncy frames that can absorb the shock of an impact, we'll start seeing broken displays even inside cases.

As long as they are not as big as Pixel 8a bezels, then they don't really need to be smaller. You need a little space between the frame and the screen, otherwise there are ergonomic issues and you'll be forced to use a case on the phone which ruins the experience a lot.
This is still in rumor territory, so perhaps it's just that.

You do not need a case if the phone is made to have better build quality. Glass isn't a good material to build phones' backs out of, so it shouldn't be used, ever.
