Our Motorola Edge 50 Ultra battery life test is ready

Motorola's top-tier Edge 50 device boasts impressive battery endurance.

Sort by:

From my experience, battery life is always one of the most important things I check when getting a new phone. I’ve had phones where I'd be in the middle of something, and suddenly, the battery would run low, throwing off my whole day. The Motorola Edge 50 Ultra seems like it wouldn’t cause that problem, especially with almost 13 hours of active use. Plus, it’s great to see it perform so well with video playback and gaming. I usually stream videos when I’m commuting, so knowing this phone could handle nearly 18 hours of video is a big win for me.

I’ve used phones with bigger batteries that didn’t last as long, so the Edge 50 Ultra would fit perfectly into my daily routine—whether it’s for long calls, streaming, or gaming. Even though the browsing time is a bit lower, the strong gaming and streaming performance makes up for it. Having a phone like this means I wouldn’t have to worry about finding a charger so often!

Impressive numbers despite a relatively small battery.

When compared to Edge 50 pro, it performed better in Video playback and gaming test and worse in calling (all of which were along expected lines). Browsing endurance is a bit lower, whereas I was expecting it to be a bit higher. Nonetheless, pretty good showing.

        Outstanding result.
It only proves any kind of UI its just bloatware and pure android experience always the winner.

Konrad Lorenz, 04 Jun 202414 hrs of web browsing SOTthat's great battery life. Not just "decent". There's a difference. The S23 Ultra, S24 Ultra, ROG Phone 8 Pro, Honor Magic6 Pro, Find X7 Ultra can't do it. The 15 Pro Max and the Oneplus 12 are the few true flagships that can do it. The Xperia 1 VI has a 1080p 120 hz screen and does it. By your definition nearly no phone has decent battery then.

9.5-11 hours is decent, 11-12 is good, 12-14 is great and anything beyond 14 is amazing.

Still, it goes to show that the smaller battery is not a deal-breaker on the Motorola Edge 50 ultra when it can still perform pretty well. Really like Motorola's software. If they launched a phone with very good camera performance at a good price I'd love to go for it. The x50 ultra in China though is too expensive by about 15% this year. Still, looking forward to the review and seeing if the cameras perform well or not. Basically hardly any reviews as Motorola doesn't pay the big reviewers in China to review/adverise the phone like Xiaomi, OPPO, and Vivo do for their launches

A little off topic, the S23 FE has really bad battery life on GSMArena and in Abishek's test, so that's what the facts say.

Very good results, considering the fact that other flagships boast more battery capacity.

Samsung has good battery life considering how heavy OneUI is.

And Xiaomi didn't have sucb beyond terrible battery life in the past, like they do now.

My cards go on bad optimisation because "Xiaomi doesn't care and people buy it anyhow"

Xiaomi has a certain reputation, I even know people that skip other good phones and get a Xiaomi one even if it doesn't have the best value in my country, purely because "Xiaomi was bang for bucks in the past"
