jerem06, 04 Jun 2024I would really like a smartphone with a dual telephoto lens... moreor you could buy a second-hand Find X7 Ultra/ when the Find X8 Ultra comes out buy the Find X7 Ultra at a reduced price. I'd say even the Find X6 Pro is perfectly fine as a 800 dollar+ phone nowadays so a Find X7 Ultra is gonna be great for a few years for 900-1200 dollars. Sites like Tradingshenzhen are cool for that.

Darth Caesium, 04 Jun 2024For the Find X8 Ultra's cameras, Oppo should do this: ... moreyeah the main cam having a variable aperture that's even less impressive would be fine, like f/1.8-f/2.8 or something. Just something that allows you to get sharper photos.

Telephotos are indeed class leading right now (as an overall package I'd say they're better than the X100 Ultra because of the 2.9x-3.7x quality advantage). Idk about closer focusing distances, they COULD do that but what they have is perfectly fine. The super telephoto having an improvement in the aperture at the same size or a larger size is indeed the way to go.

The UW cam thing tho, ehhh I think the only thing they should do is have a wider field of view. Having a faster aperture could lead to blurrier shots and btw why would you even need a variable aperture on the UW cam?

I would really love there to be a selfie cam that's a JN1 but the main problem isn't cost or anything, it's size. Oppo is most likely going to prioritize larger batteries compared to this year, based on rumors, and a JN1 is a bit larger than their current one. Considering the huge battery, fast charging and the huge rear cameras, it's understandable why they cheaped out on the selfie cam. I just wish they had it outputting in 8 MP or had the option to do both 8 MP and 32 MP.

And yeah screen needs to be either either brighter or have reduced bezels, both are huge cons rn for the X7 Ultra. Dunno about Armour tho, it protects the screen but zamn the matte coating is grainy af.

Oh and btw, what's wrong with having too many features? You can just choose to ignore them, like I do on my Samsung phone. I just spend a few days after getting a phone to get accustomed to the settings and options, set it up for me and then forget everything else for the most part. You can uninstall most of the bloatware and stuff so I don't think that's a huge issue. The OS looks smooth af as well.

I would really like a smartphone with a dual telephoto lens but with Snapdragon 8s gen 3 or Dimensity 9300 to lower the bill...

They should bring this to the US as a Oneplus phone. It will sell like hotcakes

jiyen235, 04 Jun 2024Thank god they didn't cut off the IMX 890 sensor, that... moreFor the Find X8 Ultra's cameras, Oppo should do this:

•The main camera should stay the same, except for the addition of variable focal aperture from f/1.4 to f/4.0.
•The 2.8× periscope telephoto should get a closer minimum focusing distance; and a slightly brighter focal aperture if possible, but f/2.6 is fine by me if they can't make it any brighter without running into space constraints.
•The 5.6× periscope telephoto should have a closer minimum focusing distance; but what it absolutely, undoubtedly at least needs to have is a brighter aperture, at least f/3.5 and preferably less; and that Sony IMX858 is doing an excellent job there, so it shouldn't be swapped with anything unless the sensor is bigger, and even then the aperture here in this scenario is slightly more important.
•The ultrawide definitely needs to switch back to the Sony IMX890, and it needs to have a wider focal length, like 11-12mm. Also, a brighter lens, at least f/1.8, would be appreciated, though that's not a must-have and can be reserved for a future Find X series if it causes cost issues. I would personally like to see variable focal aperture on the ultrawide as well, but once again that's not the most important thing and could cause cost issues.
•The selfie *MUST* have a Samsung JN1 sensor at the very least. This is an Ultra flagship, it doesn't deserve a low resolution 32MP setup, and the software shouldn't be treating it as a 32MP Bayer sensor when the hardware is a Quad Bayer sensor that bins 4 pixels into 1 to produce an 8MP photo. 8MP is literally less than 4K (8.4MP)! Give us a large Quad Bayer sensor with 50MP resolution and with PDAF. The current setup doesn't have any autofocus either, which is completely unacceptable when you've got the Ultra monicker.

EDIT: The screen needs to be brighter as well, and paired with Gorilla Glass Armour. Also, hopefully they can sell this globally, because I'd definitely get one on contract if it was available. I'd be willing to use Oppo's software — which I personally find to be too feature-rich and bloated, and not fluid enough — if it meant that I had amazing cameras.

Hope they fix the missing bands in the radio/antennae.

My wish for a future Find X Ultra are 3x LYT 900 sensors, a 18mm ultra wide, a 35mm main and a 70mm tele. If they can add variable aperture to them, even better. The rest would be redundant!

Thank god they didn't cut off the IMX 890 sensor, that 3x telephoto might be the best midrange telephoto (not counting the X100 Ultra or the Magic6 Pro since they are the only telephoto lens) lens ever. It was a shame that they got rid of it in the UW lens and used a downgraded (comparatively) LYT-600. The LYT-600 would've been an upgrade compared to the IMX858, NOT the IMX890, imo at least.

Well at least what they have in the X7 Ultra is superb. The only thing they could do is bump up the aperture and they're golden for the next gen. The super telephoto NEEDS better aperture. If they go up in size they need to at least hold on to the same f/4.3 aperture, if they go higher it wouldn't be that big of an upgrade. If they have a faster aperture then woah it'd be amazing.

Even then, they don't need to upgrade any lens, they just need to have variable aperture on the main cam and they'll easily be the new smartphone camera king overall without a doubt. The master mode is overlooked by every reviewer unfortunately for some reason, same goes for the pro modes in Xiaomi's Ultra phones.

A global 512 gb model that costs less than 1300 euros would be good, if they can improve the speaker quality and have better screen brightness only then would the phone be worth 1500 euros. The battery, performance, etc. are great but the brightness and speaker quality fall behind others (the Xiaomi speakers are reference grade for phones and Samsung/Apple/Google/Honor's brightness is commendable).

They should make a proper camera but with Android.

Nice. Surely Xiaomi will drop it too as 3 generations with the same relatively small telephoto/periscope sensors would be pushing it.

Great! The IMX858 did its job serving as the mini IMX989 as it retained pretty much everything sans the pixel density and sensor size, but the time sure has come for an upgrade.

Something like the LYT600 done on the Exmor-T architecture should be great.
