So instead of naming it 2a Lite, they need to make it as sub-brand.
        So ridiculous.

Darth Caesium, 04 Jun 2024Idk, for all it's faults, the Nothing Phone (2a) seems... moreNothing phone 2 was out of date on release, it had a snapdragon 8+ gen 1 but competing against flagship killers with snapdragon 8 gen 2.

Even nothing phone 1 would have been better if they spent the glyph money to put a 888 in rather the 778+. Not that 778+ is bad, but you could get it for half the price of phone 1 from competitors.

Darth Caesium, 04 Jun 2024My thoughts exactly. I haven't been excited to see bud... moreyeah man the phone's bonkers, idk why you're saying 6 gb is meh. It may have been meh on a 500 dollar device but for half the price? this is good. The Galaxy A35 has 6GB of ram as its base memory option so yeah if you put all the other specs together this is impressive! Besides, unless you have 100 or more tabs open at the same time in chrome, have 2-3 games open or watch 3 4K videos in 3 different apps at the same time, you won't have any problems with even 6 GB of ram. It's usually the processor that gives out before the RAM does and time and time again it's been shown with tests that RAM management is the key factor, not just RAM.

Chopped down and rebranded 2a. Good? Bad?

                  No NFC? Seriously?

DarlingYext, 04 Jun 2024Honestly I feel the opposite, I'd love to have a Nothi... moreIdk, for all it's faults, the Nothing Phone (2a) seems like it has almost everything that the Nothing Phone (2) does for almost half the price. Nothing really should've given their flagship a telephoto using a Samsung ISOCELL JN1 sensor, hell maybe even paired with a periscope lens (and massively improved their camera software and processing too); started with a base storage of 256GB; and given it an IP68 rating. That would've turned the pricing from uncompetitive to aggressively competitive, and it would suddenly look like a very attractive phone to buy.

My theory is that the Nothing Phone (2a) only exists because the Nothing Phone (2) had too few buyers because it wasn't substantially different from the Nothing Phone (1), and the global cost of living crisis meant that people were less willing to buy new phones (especially also since they'd bought new phones during the pandemic) so they realised that they could just mass-produce a cheaper version based off of the Nothing Phone (2) that had most of its bells and whistles and get lots of customers. They've finally found their right target customers with the Nothing Phone (2a), and it's so far paid off for them very well.

I miss the good old days when a phone with a $279 price tag wasn't a "budget" one.

Darth Caesium, 04 Jun 2024I massively dislike secondary brands and rebrands too, but ... moreHonestly I feel the opposite, I'd love to have a Nothing Phone (2), but their budget (2a), that completely plastic toy, it's just not my thing.

DarlingYext, 04 Jun 2024It just seems like a rebranded Nothing Phone (2a), with les... moreI massively dislike secondary brands and rebrands too, but it's still an excellent phone if it's launched at $250. Nothing seems to be doing better at the low-end than at the high-end, probably because they realised that their strategy with the Nothing Phone (2) wasn't working and that aggressively pricing at the low-end would get them more users. The Nothing Phone (2a) literally has the best value for money at $350, nothing else beats it, unless you really care about absolute performance and decide to go for a Poco F6, and that's for $50 more, at which point you can get the Nothing Phone (2a)'s 12GB RAM version that also comes with 256GB of storage instead (same storage but more RAM) unless you really care about gaming.

Darth Caesium, 04 Jun 2024It's a bit meh, but the phone is otherwise great for t... moreIt just seems like a rebranded Nothing Phone (2a), with less RAM, and I'm sick of both rebrands and useless sub-brands that only exist for the sake of money laundering, like CMF.

DarlingYext, 04 Jun 20246GB + 2GB is enough to know about this phone, absolute junk. It's a bit meh, but the phone is otherwise great for the price. It's not the "junk" you make it out to be, just because it has one particular flaw. Name me one phone at this price point that has better cameras, while also having at least the same processor and same quality of display.

jiyen235, 04 Jun 2024Wow, the camera specs, if in line with the 2(a), are bonker... moreMy thoughts exactly. I haven't been excited to see budget phones in ages, and this has actually made me do a double take. The 6GB of RAM are a bit meh, but otherwise a very solid device for the price, and I mean they had to cut costs somewhere. Just wish they hadn't done the accessory thing, they could've axed that in favour of 8GB of RAM, and they would've had a flawless phone for the price here.

santi64, 04 Jun 2024why a "CMF" phone? phone 2a its good enough, i do... moreTo compete with Transsion, Redmi and other cheap Chinese phones.. Because you know they have become a big brand in the smartphone world. Nothing needs to release to more countries too.

should have came with helio p22 instead of dimensity 7200. that component is way too expensive for such thing🗣️🗣️

why a "CMF" phone? phone 2a its good enough, i dont understand the strategy here
