Just let them be. I pretty much anti fanboys. Both have advantages and disadvantages anyway. It’s human tech nothing closer to perfection, only a true fanboy always think 100% perfect. Anyway just 3 years for mid range model seems reasonable and cheaper options for daily use phones

TechJocky, 05 Jun 2024That's the beauty of Android. Before getting my a54, I... moreJust straight talk about Samsung like the rest of comments, also no need to assume Apple user lack of knowledge. Not here defending Apple, also not here to be Android-Apple fanboys

My mother have A41 and it's on android 12. Weird that it didnt even get the android 13 update as we already are on 14 and soon coming 15.

I tough that it get at least that 3 OS updates but well as they dropped the A4x series then there was no hope to get the last 3rd OS update so 4 years of security updates is good enough i guess.

Well they messed up the best A series phone as the more compact in size and in budget range in priice. A40 was good and even tough A41 got bigger it was still smaller then your usual phablet. With A42 it went to the size like the rest so there was no point to make them anymore as now A3x and A5x is pretty much same or at least by performance as they use the same chip. But well my mother will not care and use the phone as long as it dies anyways. As the phone she had before was LG Leon that she used like 5 years. Would of used the LG longer if it would of not only said that storage is full all the time even tough she had like half the storage free.

justasmile, 05 Jun 2024Well the A51 4g which was massively popular got its support... moreMy point still stands S and Z series are the best andything below cant even handle opening the settings app.

Believe I could do even more things than the latest iOS at the time. Only a few newbies and Apple boys will brag about software updates who don't have good tech knowledge. Even though I thought that should get the custom rom through twrp, especially the Leanageos. But didn't feel that I needed to upgrade.

Anonymous, 05 Jun 2024They didn't fulfil the 3 OS update promise for the A32... moreIts possible the a32 gets android 14 soon. I mean the a 13 litterary got it this month. Patience is a virtue.

I was surprised when my old A51 4G got Android 13. I thought the 12 was the last upgrade it will ever received. Anyway I don't mind though. I don't think the SoC will be able to handle 14. It was already lethargic enough. Now using a Vivo Y36 5G on Android 14. Not sure if it would get 15. Probably wouldn't mind if it doesn't. The Dimensity 6020 isn't a great performer anyway.

Just imagine if manufacturers provided all their devices with updates for 7 years or longer, what that would mean. Smartphones would be repaired much more often. People would spend less money on smartphones and have more money for other things. Unimaginable amounts of raw materials would be saved. Samsung is taking a good step in this direction with 5 years. Unfortunately, in the past, some devices became unusably slow and jerky after several OS updates.

They didn't fulfil the 3 OS update promise for the A32 5G. It went from Android 11 to 13. Oppositely, the A13 5G exceeded its 2 OS update promise, going from Android 11 to 14. It's just weird.

Other than that, it's still the same phone in terms of software. Sure there's some UI jank, but it's more than usable as a daily driver.

i've got the a41 and i'm not changing it. i tried an xiaomi which turned out to be a disaster. until i can afford a zenphone 9 [which by then will also be out of date as it were] i will keep useing it. no other smallish phone comes with the 'features' i require.
