"you can either choose 16GB or 32GB of LPDDR5X RAM and it can't be upgraded later on."
In other words, it comes with panned obsolescence!

But why give u... moreGotta take advantager of that AI boom.
If there is no AI boom, those NPU real estate would have been more GPU power and/or USB5 & Thunderbolt 5.
Then again, Lenovo showed us that USB5 & Thunderbolt 5 can be implemented with NPU.

OfficialTRider, 06 Jun 2024Intel will beat ARM.Their CPU with 144 cores looks cool, but this 32Gb limit is not cool.

That's not cool.
I already use 64Gb and would change it to 96Gb or 128Gb, because RAMdisk can boost IDE's performance.

Anonymous, 06 Jun 2024It was a revolution for Intel, switching to a chiplet desig... moreNope, he is correct.
Intel are definitely liars. And they're definitely not "good guys" after they had backdoor dealings and illegal activities that lead to the bankruptcy of AMD more than a decade ago. They want to be a monopoly. Now we have AMD actually innovate, and bring competition to the market. And shortly after, they're the leaders with Intel now being the weaker company but somehow they still have billions and billions of dollars in the bank.
Until the silicon is released (not a paper launch), and it gets tested properly (independent, trusted, third-party) and the metrics quantified. Until then there is no news here. In the findings we can find out if there is a performance regression or uplift, battery life, thermal profiles, supported features, and then software support (drivers, Linux, etc etc).
One thing telling is that Intel hasn't shown any product in-person, and they didn't make any benchmark claims. They're not confident. Meanwhile, AMD not only showed Zen5 and it's capabilities, but also showed how it behaves in benchmarks. AMD is going to deliver with Zen5, most likely, because they are confident in their product and technology. It somewhat applies to Qualcomm and the EliteX chipsets too, but I remain sceptical.

16GB on W11 is not enough. You can fill it up fast just on browsing and light office work.

RAM bottleneck that too when W11 is RAM-hogger. Intel trying to shoot themselves now. Let's hope this doesn't creep up into higher tier laptop CPUs, HX series to be exact.

Read that again I said YOU , NOT ordering from the manufacturerer!
For the last 7yrs all x86 laptops have been slowly moving to no RAM upgrades and no nvme upgrades.
Welcome to the SoC ... the chip inside Terminator lol!

But why give us PCIe 5 but ONLY USB4?! thunderbolt 5 and USB5/USB-C 5 IS ALREADY here and ships on 1 laptop Lenovo ThinkPad P1 Gen 3!
End of 2024 ans this Tb4 limitation is asinine Intel.

Just sad to be a beta tester for the meteor lake laptops lol. Will upgrade if what they claim is true.

My 2019 Razer Blade 15 Advanced is still working daily like a champ but I'm finally seeing the technology advance enough to upgrade when the time comes.

ProMax Ultra, 06 Jun 2024Ahhh!!
The soldered RAMs are coming & RAM upgrades w... moreGenuinely asking, when was the last time RAM failed you and you had to replace it?
I have an upgradable 7-year-old laptop that I bought refurbished and then upgraded the RAM. If I was buying it new, I could have specced it to have the RAM I wanted, Upgradability isn't something to be done often, at least with laptops.
If you upgrade/replace parts often, then there's something wrong.
