"this announcement apparently serves as Nothing". Never has a truer word been spoken.

No wonders that Nothing (2) does not sell so good. The lights on the back does not bring harmony to the eyes of the users. However, they did it right with (2a).

Could do what game devs do now and release an almost finished product (the phone) with the AI software post launch. Samsung did it with the S24 series

Nothing is expected to impress. Why keep writing about nothing, instead of something?

Ok, the phone has AI, but if the phone doesn't have an 8s Gen 3 or better chip with a telephoto lens for the price it sold at then it ain't gonna be a good phone. They showed that the main cam and UW cam aren't that expensive by using it on the Phone 2(a) so if the Phone 3 is gonna have the same main and UW cams as the 2 a then they need to at least put one more cam in to justify the far higher price tag. The Phone 2a basically makes the Phone 2 look like garbage. The other thing they need to do is make the base storage 256 gb, at the same price. The main cam could also do with an upgrade to 1/1.43" or higher.
Basically like a middle ground between the Oneplus 12R and the Oneplus 12, kind of like the Xiaomi 13T Pro. They need better camera hardware, a far better chip, higher base storage and a telephoto camera to be competitive in the current market. Otherwise why would anyone choose the Nothing Phone 3 over something cheaper like the Oneplus 12R, the Vivo V30 Pro, Samsung midrangers, base Pixel/Pixel a series phones or even their own "budget" 2(a) phone? The Phone 2 (a) is so good it's set a high standard for Nothing, so if they don't have a proper upgrade I don't think any sane person would drop so much more money on a chip upgrade.

Wow I'm totally disappointed ☹️
I wanted a nothing phone 3 to be a real flagship that launches this year but it seems they only care about AI.

I think your reasoning is right on the money. The Phone(2) had been discounted by 15~20K after 6 months iirc in India. That has to be an indication of bad sales.
The 2(a) being relaunched in the new blue colour at a later date and this special limited edition have to be tactics to boost sales and maintain interest in their device after launch.

They might as well take this extra time to improve the phone both hardware and software-wise. Would be quite a bummer if they don't.
