Redmi A3x quietly debuts with Unisoc T603 chipset

07 June 2024
It's basically an even cheaper version of the already available A3.

Anonymous, 07 Jun 2024Moto G4 (2016) is better No that phone‘s backlight will stay off after about 12 hours because of a software glitch, forcing you to restart it. Not to mention the image retention. I would not want to use that.

I still can’t find what the Unisoc T603 actually is. Some said it’s the same as SC9863 but that is 28nm and 1.6GHz. I guess this one‘s 22nm 8x1.8GHz is also A55 then, so maybe a slightly better variant in between SC9863 and T606, the latter of which has ARM A7 series cores.
What I found impressive is despite this probably being an even cheaper variant below the Redmi A3, and after a few months probably below €80 and maybe approaching €60 or even €50, it gets 2 major android versions and 3 years of security updates. That’s a support which some time ago even some flagships got. When I bought a mid range phone in 2015, it got 1 major android update and that was it.
Still, I‘d wish even cheap phones like this got at least A73 and better yet A76 cores, hopefully next year that will happen with Redmi A4. Maybe something like G99 for A4 and T606 for A4x. I‘d also wish for every phone to come with at least 256GB storage to store all photos and apps without the need for microSD (keeping the option is fine though), but that is unrealistic for this price range for at least 2 more years I think. Would be happy to be wrong though.

Wow, Xiaomi's first phone with Unisoc.

            No, I think t603 2 a75 cores at 1,8 GHz and 6 a55 cores at 1,6 GHz

Anonymous, 07 Jun 2024Seems Moto G04 someone mentioned comes with UFS 2.2. Che... moreI have the G04 as a secondary phone, and I had Redmi A3 in my hands.

Main reason to get the Redmi A3? Believing Xiaomi their word that it gets 2 OS updates, because at 99 euro for the 64gb/3gb I rather get the Motorola G04 with 64gb/4gb at 79 euro.

Because aside from the updates the Moto is only only more fluid (which is very noticeable in the super budget market), the phone feels and looks better, the OS lacks any skin and the only bloatware it comes with in my country it LinkedIN and Facebook that you can both remove.

Also you get a case in box, camera makes better (considering the price) pictures and the standby is stupidly solid (someone on reddit got beyond 8hours with over 4 days of use from it, can confirm it is that good)

But you don't get OS updates, only 2 years of security with the Moto and Xiaomi does get OS updates with Xiaomi isn't lying.

That is the only reason to go for the Xiaomi, and looking at the A3x one is better off getting a used phone instead.

Checked the price of that phone in my country, 72 euro while Redmi A3 starts at 99 euro.

What is Xiaomi even thinking with A3x... ar this point a old Nexus 5 running custom ROM is better.

Anonymous, 07 Jun 2024This is not even scraping the bottom of a pan, they scraped... moreThe irony is the A22 in Redmi A1 is a more modern chip.

Xiaomi really going the route of "people buy it anyhow because of the name"

Days of Xiaomi being bang for bucks are over.

                    This one is real bad

Budget devices are running UFS now with larger ram and storage

Xiaomi is literally disrespecting people with this one

The design looks good but I fear that is gonna unfortunately get to people

T603 sits around Helio A22 the first Redmi A1 came with.

Redmi A3 runs "acceptable" with G36, G04 runs a tad better because vanilla Android and T606 being a tad better in daily use, even with lower clocks.

Redmi A1 was unusable starting day one, and as a reminder it ran Android GO variant and was worse than Redmi A3 and G04 that run full Android.

The lattet two can also barely utilise the 90hz (Moto a tad better again because vanilla Android)

But for Redmi A3x it's a waste, the Redmi A1 could barely hold 60hz, let alone more.

How to make a "meh" phone,"beyond terrible"

Base Redmi A3 (64/3) goes for 95 euro here, I would rather get a Moto G04 for 74 euro (64/4)

Even at same price the moto is a better deal.

And that compared to the Redmi A3,not the A3x that is EVEN WORSE.
