The first step into a decent day-to-day-intelligence would be, when I would be able to connect an iPhone 16 Pro Max to an external 16:9 monitor and have all iOS screens and installed apps available in a useable layout (not that pillar-boxed / letter-boxed crap of current IPhones). It is rediculous how Office Apps, File Apps, PDF Apps and others are currently shown on a connected external monitor. As long as this isn't fulfilled, Apple has nothing to do with whatever kind of intelligence. They are too stupid to even cover the most simple foundation of "productivity" on their iPhones. What a shame!

Funny that Apple is calling it "Apple Intelligence" but it really is just Open AI coz they were too late to invest in their own.

All you need it for is to do stuff for you so you don't have to pick up the phone. And for that, the assistants are all good enough, be it Google's, Bixby or Siri. It isn't a praise, it's just a statement.
This stands especially true in countries where language isn't supported and you have to do it in English which isn't all that convenient when you have to be a translator while issuing commands, unlike Americans who just talk like they do every day to it. It's very different.

Yup, I'm not at all a fan of the bs AI gimmicks of the pixel. The only reason I would consider a pixel is to flash it and install some other os without any spyware...

It is very, very unusual and odd that Apple would jump in the AI band wagon this early.
Apple is know for their "wait and see what works", then add them in their eco system later on.
This AI boom will eventually be an AI ka-boom.
When that happens, those AI hardware will become dead weight inside everyone's desktops, laptops, pads / tabs, and smartphones.
Not to mention the privacy and copyright nightmare that comes with AI, as there is little to no protection laws with regards to this branch of tech (depending on where you live).

Windows Mobile suffered because of the anaemic processing power of that time and the stylus based interface but it was honest and functional, gave the PC on palm experience that today's smartphones have somehow dumbed down to almost a non existent level:(

Yes, we need something that's third choice for an OS. At one time not too long ago, Windows mobile was a choice, but it wasn't meant to be.

If blackberry was still up and going, I'd have preferred that over anything else as I value security and privacy over gimmicky AI features, digital 'assistants' and limitless 'customization' features.
Let's address the elephant in the room. Right now there are only 2 main mobile OSs and neither is any good from an average consumer's pov. Apple provides more privacy *out of the box* but cleans out your wallet with their ridiculous pricing, especially for memory upgrade options. Android gives you more control and flexibility(memory , peripherals, sode loading) and a more diverse set of devices (foldables and different brands ) but Google just sells your soul and everything they can get their hands on about you to advertisers + LEAs (let's be real, nothing is free!)...
What we need is a 3rd mobile OS to come up, preferably from a company that doesn't make a living out of selling your data. We need something new similar to Blackberry OS, Meego, Maemo, Symbian etc...

TBH, the only thing I can care of and has a potential of being interesting is iPadOS - they just release new iPads Pro, yet their OS is still, after 9 years, a half-baked mess with a ton of bugs or poorly implemented features.
I don't care for porting MacOS to iPads, but I would like to see an OS that can actually use, at least a part, of the hardware potential.
