Trying to build up hype after their lackluster unveiling of snore-worthy features?
It really feel like they just got on the AI bandwagon to keep the markets happy rather than add useful functionalities - they're very late, it's fueled by a third-party company, on-device processing is limited to a handful of recent/unannounced devices.
It's just bad, uninspired marketing.

The more I hear/learn about Apple Intelligence, the more I feel they announced AI for the sake of it. A little underwhelming from Apple but let's see how they progress on it.

Still would not use Apple Intelligence on a main phone, which is pretty rare since someone would not have a 1000 dollar phone or 6-700 dollar tablet as a back up.
