Why don't mediatek make a kompanio soc based on the dimensity 9300+ with 10 cores? It would match atleast an m2.

Don't expect service after sales from them. Once sold, they will try to prove that, you yourself built the equipment and damaged it and they can't help you with repairs.

Rknight93, 15 Jun 2024Mediatek SoC aren't they usually inferior to Qualcomm? They used to be in the past, but they've caught up to qualcomm in their latest few generations with the dimesnity series.

If you a care about performance, look at benchmarks and you'll see that it's really close and effectively trades blows with the snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Other than that, it's fairly even in terms of power efficiency too. Regarding the support for 5G bands, Mediatek chips work with no issues and have good connectivity in most regions.

DeepIn2U, 15 Jun 2024That's NOT a good reason for a company to switch SoC s... moreSure, but the by-product of that is effectively more options and thereby better competition in the market. So it's still a good thing for the consumers. Besides, if they're able to lower of manufacturing by switching away from the overpriced snapdragon chips, that ultimately likely results in a lower cost for the end device, thereby benefitting us.

It's hard to keep 10+ watts of thermal output in phone package cool. Also he might have an point as evidenced by poco x6 pro thermals being improved by an recent update. Qualcomm is probably going benchmark chasing route with 4,2 ghz big core max clock.

That's a no! I only bought the tab a9+ because it has snapdragon, even tho I prefer the smaller tablet. I wish there's snapdragon or exynos on smaller tablets.

Shamdung69, 14 Jun 2024It helps maintain healthy competition between qualcomm and ... moreDo you have proof to backup that this particular MediaTek SoC being tested is NOT inferior and by which measurments are you thinking of, since you haven't stated anything specifically??

In particular Qualcomm has the lions share of global LTE and 5G modem and patents so users looking for such particular units will have their decisions affected on which bands are supported and thus may dictate which regions will get a SnapDragon vs MediaTek SoC.

Again think of the business model 1st and foremost not with our hearts ;)

Shamdung69, 14 Jun 2024It helps maintain healthy competition between qualcomm and ... moreThat's NOT a good reason for a company to switch SoC suppliers - JUST because it maintains healthy competition; unless they have a vested (financial) interest. Herein Samsung does not.

IF Samsung is testing Mediatek SoC's its either by price per lot of SoC's being cheaper and thus increasing profits per product unit sold of the Tab S10 specific models and in specific markets. Most likely because in certain markets the S9 series sales has dropped off and their market research is telling Samsung that their sales model's are too high for consumers and corporations and that their model's do not allow for cheaper pricing.

Thus the S9's not selling well in certain markets will be offered as web sales offers in other markets in the world. And thus testing lower end models or models shipping to low sales affected markets will get slightly or significantly cheaper SoC's. Also Samsung's own Exynos 2500 isn't ready in production volume as of yet to make the product introduction and shipping.

Again let's think of the business model that affects decisions like this and not what 'WE' has users or fans or non-fans would LIKE things to be because it works just for us (singular opinions).

we ending qualcomm with this one 🗣🔥🗣🔥🗣🔥

Just my opinion, 14 Jun 2024what are you going on about And mediatek supports mmwave since d9200 on d9000 series. And it would be way cheaper to support cellular bands with mediatek because qualcomm charges for enabling cellular bands. See how ruggedised online market almost never use snapdragon and use mediatek soc instead?
