I bet it ends up looking NOTHING like that render. 99% of "leakers" know nothing. It's staggering just how much air time they're given by those who really should know better by now.

The size of the sensors was never the problem with Sony's camera system, the issue was you had to know quite a lot about photography to get the best out of it (a problem when Apple and Samsung both have cameras that even a small child can take incredible pictures with), it's not as point and shoot as it really needs to be.

Also there was other issues with the 1 VI specifically in the context of what it cost (QHD+ display and at minimum 5 platform upgrades really should be standard for a 4 figure price point, and it has neither so it's really hard to justify a premium price for a worse screen and having no security patches after 4 years) and realistically if Sony wants to compete they should fix those too.

I would love to for Sony to succeed in the mobile scene, their phones look almost best in the market look wise, but for me Xperia has 5 major issues as a phone overall
      - Price
      - Update policy
      - Not keeping with trends with the bezel-less display
      - Point and shoot camera
      - Lack of proper marketing and using popularity of their other products like PS as a ladder.

Lol. ZTE a small player was banned for not complying (selling US tech to Iran eventhough they agreed not to). Huawei a big player did the same thing and got the same treatment. People keep harping about Huawei but always always refuse to acknowledge ZTE. I wonder why? (doesn't fit the narrative)

Even though Xiaomi doesn't comply fully they are doing okay in the USA. You can buy and use Xiaomi network products in USA. No probs.

I hope they bring back the Pro Series w/ the 1" sensors

1/2.3" is definitely a welcome upgrade, especially when it still retains the 3.5x-7x variable zoom periscope camera. It'd be hilarious to see Sony do this upgrade while Samsung still stuck with the same 1/3.5" telephoto camera sensor for next year's S25 Ultra.

Sometimes I wonder what will happen if Hasselblad × Kodak × Samsung × Leica × Sharp × Sony Zeiss T* happens together in one phone with all features of individual companies coming together. Might be called " Wonder Phone " Might be iPhone will need to up their game if this happens :)) 👀👀

V3, 18 Jun 2024So no foldable? There's rumors about the Sony Xperia 1 VIII.

I would like Sony to use a bigger main camera sensor on their next flagship. Upgrade that, and maybe the UW camera, and keep the current zoom system, or upgrade that as well to a 48 MP resolution( but I think this would hike the price a bit too much).

                                So no foldable?

I really hope this is true, as they have only been updating one camera at a time since the Xperia 1 IV; all 3 cameras should be 48mp which can pixel bin down to 12mp; the front camera all needs updating to have AF.

The battery life is excellent though on the Xperia 1VI

My old Xperia XZ Premium has AF on their front camera for goodness sake!!
