samsung should just shut down exynos forever. one year all snapdragon then another year snapdragon & exynos mix making consumer unhappy. samsung should know by now that it just catch up with snapdragon nor able to make a processor that's on par with snapdragon year in year out

And suddenly... Good news. S23 series were awesome because of the TSMC made Snapdragon chipset. Exy 2400 was an improvement over its predecessor but the Samsung foundries still have a long way to go.
I honestly hope they improve because competition is always good for the consumer. But in the meantime it is better they use the superior product.
I also think Exynos 2500 was unable to match the performance of the new custom cores Qualcomm is using in the 8G4, so they had to use it no matter what. Otherwise they would have been ridiculed worldwide like in the age of Exynos 990 vs SD 865.

>"due to Samsung's lower-than-expected 3nm yield."
Every year it's the same rumour "Now Samsung has fixed their production process" and every year it is the same disappointment with low yields, high power leakage and sub-par performance.
Hopefully Samsung will go All in on TSMC on S25 models.

Furkan, 18 Jun 2024Snapdragon is overheating lolNot as much as Exynos. Exynos flagship chipsets get hot very fast even from doing light tasks like browsing and watching videos

Anonymous, 18 Jun 2024A 25% chip price increase?! Yikes I wouldn't accept th... moreSamsung dont really have a choice if the news about Samsung Foundry struggling with 3nm yield is true. SF have struggled with yield in the past so the news might be true.
Lower yield means higher price per wafer. If the Exynos 2500 is nearing the price of 8gen4 to produce, might as well get the arguably better Qualcomm chipset instead of in‐house Exynos. Samsung should also consider just shutting down development of flagship Exynos and instead focus on mid and entry level.

A 25-30% increase for a less efficient chip that requires OEMs to find room for 6,000mAh batteries (and also charge customers more for the batteries)? Shouldn't chips be getting more efficient on the smaller processes?
I think OEMs should boycott Qualcomm and switch to MediaTek. Cheaper and more power efficient.

A 25% chip price increase?! Yikes I wouldn't accept that if I was Samsung. That's gonna affect the sale price for sure.

I guess that means A56 and A26 as well as S24 FE will keep using Exynos. They have to utilize those fabs somehow.
A56 will launch with E1580
A26 with E1380 and
S24 FE with E2400

Since Snapdragon 8 gen 4 is required 6000 MAH battery capacity it could be worst for s25 vanilla.
