Xiaomi 15 Pro specs leak, variable aperture is gone from the main camera

If true, then it was a very short-lived experiment on Xiaomi's part.

That is because the LYT T808 is the only one that has it. If every sensor in the LYT lineup had the double layer tech they would also mention it in their respective descriptions.

It also won't have a 1" sensor, the OV50K which is mentioned is a 1/1.3" sensor

Also, Xiaomi and Oppo's philosophies are different. Oppo tends to have more dynamic range and less noise and Xiaomi tends to have a softer, more natural look with more noise and less dynamic range. Take a look at a Vivo photo, it'll have some outrageous dynamic range even on the X80 Pro, would you say that's the GNV? No.

I've edited RAW files from Xiaomi 12 Ultra, which features the IMX 989 1" sensor, and there is indeed a both a big difference in DR and noise between it and the Oppo Find X7 Ultra.

I need the 15 pro. I missed out on the 14 pro and had to get the s24+ after hearing that we won't get an international RoM. This is slightly less but still disheartening.

I'm talking about actual real world differences from samples. I couldn't see much differences, if any, between the sensors themselves apart from the advancements Oppo made to their processing.

Hopefully they fix some camera software behaviour like portrait mode bumping exposure by 1 stop when a face is detected, HDR not really doing anything, over whitened ski tones.
Camera hardware was not really lacking.

The processing is also more advanced in the X7 Ultra, yielding really great results, comparable to dedicated cameras: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1PVMQcrcBenFHqANHPoczQmnanHAERRtX

Those are not small differences, but substantial ones. A small difference may be 10%-20%, 300% is a substantial one IMO.
