Xiaomi 15 Pro specs leak, variable aperture is gone from the main camera

If true, then it was a very short-lived experiment on Xiaomi's part.

Are they going to remove the charger from the box?
How come Xiaomi allows powering off from the lock screen without requiring authorization, like a password confirmation?

    Kinda disappointing.
But if this means vanilla 15 will get the 1/1.31 sensor with variable aperture, then nice.
The pro, like Samsung plus is becoming really weird. They are deliberately bottle-necking it to not hurt their ultras.

Mechancal iris is so subtle and needing a pixel peeping to gauge and see the different on the final image. when posted to social media and compressed to death, the difference are negligible to none.

Maria, 28 Jun 2024Why does Xiaomi not sell a very competitive good phone like... moreXiaomi would love to sell you everything but it's usually the "trade wars" that ruin everything. Bigger companies with a market share in a given country can might use letigious means to stop other brands from selling from selling particular or a group of products (governments will deny but that is true). Then comes the aspect of export/import expenses, A company has to clearances, pay additional taxes and whatnot to export products out of domestic market, a company can't simply absorb these expnses and retain low/competitive price tag which often results in the final price being too high to compete so they might hold off on releasing certain products. For example, India got the K20/Pro - K50 but then we never got any sequel from K series after that. You could argue we got renamed versions of the phone but no, those were often a generation behind the K series. Hope that answers your question.

"Mechanical Iris" From mirrorless cameras are getting removed from smartphones again? (Samsung First)

Give me a break, blame the exports and politics.
It is as worse as removing the headphone jack.

Apparently the Omission OV50K is an 1/1,3", and NOT 1" as suggested in the article.

                      Typical Ch/nese upgrades or downgrades
                      Every iteration is a downgrade

Xiaomi's Pro phones are the weirdest of the bunch, they've gone from being the flagship to the mid tier flagship and now just a social experiment cus wtf are they doing lmao

I guess I'll take the 1 incher over variable aperture and if they DID have variable aperture it'd be bad for business as this phone would cannibalize the 15 Ultra.

The periscope sounds bad*ss! IMX882 is basically one of the new LYT sensors I think and at 1/2" it's gonna be a great upgrade IF they also have a bright aperture. The 14 Ultra's aperture was super bright and allowed it to close the gap with the Find X7 Ultra's huge lenses. The 15 Pro sounds good now, Xiaomi's gotta do some serious heavy lifting with the 15 Ultra to make it seem worth it. Just one more zoom lens ain't that big of a deal for 99% of people.

Thinking about it, the 14 Pro has the same main camera sensor as the 14. So why go all the trouble of making two completely different version of one camera sensor when one of it can be used on two phones at the same time.
