It's what corporations do. Adobe does it, Microsoft does it.
If you want a reliable service, that's kept up-to-date, you have to be willing to pay for it.

The Apple ecosystem is restricted but is one of the best. Otherwise, android manufacturers like Samsung, Oppo, Xiaomi, Vivo won't be busy trying to copy that (tablets, smartwatches, active bands , smart rings, headphones and wireless earbuds , even smart glasses)...
Apple's business practices however are downright greedy and deserves some criticism.

How about split it into subscription based AI vs NO AI at all??
That way, people who want AI in their life can pay and have it. Others who want to stay the hel away from AI will be free to be that way.
My fear about this is, whether Apple will stoop down to the level of Google and make this an excuse to actively mine and sell the user data of the iPhone users with just the 'free basic set of features', regardless of whether they opted on to use AI or not...
