Mobile Devices like Phones and Tabs use *LP*DRRx/x memory which stands for Low Power Dual Data Rate. Here the performance increase is quite tame because efficiency takes priority. The X version is a refined iteration of the LPDDR5 standard that gives about 17% higher bandwidth (transfer speed) and 20% lower latency (time taken per cycle) while consuming 25% lower energy.

However, despite the comparatively low-performance boost over the vanilla version, the X variant of the LP standard is much harder to produce and therefore it is significantly more expensive than the non-X variant.

Speaking of those obscure brands using such modern modules is probably because they cut significant costs in other parts/aspects like display, SoC, sensors, UFS version, and software updates while sourcing the lower quality RAM yields (Not all memory is manufactured the same) which renders the RAM cost difference nearly insignificant for them.

Another factor is that OEM producing RAM modules/Chips will often give production priority to whichever company makes the largest order, and those brands are often demanding the best possible RAM possible, so the manufacturer simply won't produce the previous generation of chips since it requires them to change certain tools/diagnostic measures which add unnecessary production costs. So the smaller player then has no choice but to buy what is available/in production.

      Like all i see is people say it's bad but never explain why and what is bad about it.
      Ads and so on is something i dont care and not related to operation system.
      Spyware is also not operation system as it's application software that is not effecting OS

      Just like Hollyweird talk to fans that they get hate threats but never have proof for it to show

              Well maybe at least Xiaomi 15 will have uniform bezel.
              14 had a hair width chin as far as my eyes perceive it and I opted out of buying it.

                    Did Xiaomi give up on Poco as a flagship killer? Why is there no more "the best" performance on pocos?

                      Just add a flat panel without tricks and an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and get those phones out globally as quickly as possible and you'll be back in the Xiaomi game.

                        The 15 Pro is the most confused phone rn for me, idk who it's for. Anyone who considers themselves a "pro" would either get the 15 Ultra OR get a second hand 14 Ultra if they can't afford the new one. There's no reason to go for the 15 Pro due to its smaller main sensor and the Ultra has two telephotos. The 15 is gonna be the compact one yeah, the 14 was one of the most improved phones of the year right beside the Oneplus 12 so it's understandable that Xiaomi is not tweaking the formula much but the 15 Pro really needed to go back to a 1 incher.

                                it's really nice to see that all chinese companies are investing in battery tech, almost 5k mAh on the somewhat small 15 is great. however MemeUI is the same horrible thing since v10 so it's still going to be only poco's with custom roms for me.

                                  So Xiaomi 15/15 pro will be their first phones to get ultra-wideband because of fastconnect 7900. Xiaomi 15 getting uwb but samsung s25 not getting uwb would be a sight to behold. And updates in base model will be battery, screen(c8 to c9), soc and zoom lens(2,67x to 3x)
