Anonymous, 08 Jul 2024So Xiaomi 15/15 pro will be their first phones to get ultra... moreCorrect !

Fun Fact: they write UBW instead of UWB into the spec. leak (lol)

DiggaNick, 12 Jul 2024Omnivision for the main shooter? Really? Not the first time. They also used one in the Mi 10 Ultra. It's not about the name of the supplier, but the quality of the sensor, firmware and software that matters.

Anonymous, 14 Jul 2024Is this really a step up from the Xiaomi Mi 11 of 2021 ?Depends on your priorities. A lot changed from 11 to 12, and have stayed since. Like the smaller display and less fortunate placement of the front facing camera. Hence if you wish to keep the size-ish, you must opt for the Pro/Ultra. The newer ones does however boast brighter displays.

I also prefer the daytime photos still from the base 11 vs. the newer ones. However in low light, the more recent ones easily go for the win. I assume the 15 will continue this. You'll also get bigger battery.

I thought android 14 would be the last version the Mi 11 would get, but I have seen it on a list over devices to receive android 15. So that could also be a factor worthy of the upgrade, or perhaps it is worth another year of waiting.

I set it to no restrictions on the battery saver and locked it to prevent it from clearing ram. It still did it until I enabled memory extension, this was the fix. But thank you anyway :D

What fog factor on photos it has? Worse than 13-th?

Anonymous, 10 Jul 2024good colours is better than high resolution on phoneThat's what I'm saying, I'd rather 12bit 1080p with wide gamut and 120hz than 8bit 4K with barely accurate colors and 60hz. Not like you can tell the difference in PPI for such small screens unless you hold it within 5cm of your eyes.

LOVE PENGUIN, 09 Jul 2024Denser pixels drains more battery. Really high res screen i... moregood colours is better than high resolution on phone

JackSong, 09 Jul 2024Dude. Just check Xiaomi's UI (and other Chinese manufa... moreThey wouldn't be copying pixel's theme as that is pretty much the default android UI.
They, and everyone else selling Android phones, are free to use the stock UI. Some do, more than others. Such as Motorola.

The Limitless theme that you can select during first time setup on the Xiaomi is pretty much letting the icons of the apps be as they are designed. No fixed borders such as the round, or square ones. That is nothing like ios. You can select rounded squares, but you don't have to. ios did not invent rounded squares. . . Nor is the app library similar to the app drawer. Ang again, you can select incredibly many designs as you wish in HyperOS. Whatever you like. HyperOS doesn't just have one theme/skin, not even out of the box. . .

You seem to be very fixated on what others would and wouldn't do. I suggest you think for yourself and skip that herd mentality and get whatever devices suits you best.

I have several times opted for Xiaomi flagships three times over apple and Samsung.

Apple is a locked down mess, with mind numbing limitations. Samsung has, over times, improved their UI towards the features of formerly MIUI. As did stock android starting from Android 10, btw. And google wasn't shy in admitting they were inspired by, and worked closely with, Xiaomi.

Unfortunately, Samsung also has some mind numbingly annoying things going for them. Still only offering only 8-bit panels (like it is 2018) no dolby vision, extremely limited support of bluetooth codecs and I've never (including back in the feature phone days) been a fan of Samsung's photo software. Though to their credit, they have keep doing the exact same as always. I just don't like how their pictures come out.

Btw, even the herd does move. Even if slowly. When Samsung entered the mobile scene, nobody wanted that copycat. Now they are the biggest player. When TCL and Hisense came into the TV market, it was like who cares? Now they are slowly overtaking LG and Samsung for the top two spots. And their CSOT is supplying even Samsung now with panels as they are superior to what Samsung display made of VA-panels. The others they have long passed. In the mobile market Xiaomi has surpassed Motorola, Sony, LG, HTC etc. and have in certain months even overtaken apple.

I hope the charger is still in the box.

pl2rts, 09 Jul 2024Well software have gone a lot more complicated then it use ... more> Well software have gone a lot more complicated then it use to be when battery lasted longer. All types of new features that consume more power like the 120hz screen on higher resolution as example.
But when your phone provides far less battery life than your competitor's while also having the (almost) exact same feature, Shouldn't the hardware/software of the phone be questioned? And yeah components and motherboard that being used by vendors might be matter too. And yes I understand about the PC analogy.

And yes, speaks about PC, software also matters. Since we're talking about battery life, let's talk about laptop at this point. By using the same hardware, you might be able to get a better battery life by using Arch Linux than using Ubuntu, even though they are both Linux. Why? Software optimization, and probably because you got less apps running in the background on the Arch than Ubuntu.
The same goes to Android and all of it's custom skin.

JackSong, 09 Jul 2024Dude. Just check Xiaomi's UI (and other Chinese manufa... moreI actually would because Xiaomi is one of higher quality Chinese brands in general, but their software support is just so annoying and inconsistent. They have all over the place software support longevity, they have weird and annoying typical Chinese issues with software that you'll never resolve in any way. I can't use a brand where vendor doesn't seem to care about anything. Maybe they do about Chinese market, but certainly not for global. When they work, they work great. When not, well, hope for the best!

HatingEqually, 09 Jul 2024Well, I also had the regular one (since it's the only ... moreI guess it's just different usage. I don't game on my phone and it lasts longer than my other phone that I also don't game with despite the the other phone having a SD665, 720p and 5000mAh with a replaced battery.

Anders, 08 Jul 2024So the Poco F6 Pro has a 1440p display but the flagship Xia... moreDenser pixels drains more battery. Really high res screen isn't even that big of a deal in a small screen anyway, like Xiaomi 14 already got 460ppi while iPad Pro 13" only got 264ppi. The worse are pre-VI Xperia 1s, like who the hell needs 4K-ish screen in 6.5" package? That's the reason why Xperia 1 VI have "downgraded" screen, because it's a power-hog.

Marco M, 09 Jul 2024Essentially all smartphone UIs of today are the same, give ... moreDude. Just check Xiaomi's UI (and other Chinese manufacturers designs). Its a straight rip off from iOS. Also, if Xiaomi did everything first, why do they always wait till Apple does it? Also, why don't they go and try to copy Google's Pixel Skin or Samsung's One UI?

You can say all smartphones have the same rectangular design plus App layout. But there is a limit to the similarities. No one says that Google/Samsung and Apple have the same look. Because obviously they have their own distinct theme (which is easily recognizable)

And I'm not talking about customization here. Its well known that Android does that better. That way I can customize my Phone to look any way I like. What I'm talking about is Xiaomi's default theme, which is a total iOS ripoff.

Also, Xiaomi sells cheap low end/mid range phones. That's what they are known for. No one in the right mind (general populace) will pay 1,000$ for a Xiaomi when they can get a Samsung, Google or Apple device at the same price. Techbros are a different case, but when it comes to the everyday Joe, there's no question.
