    You're already using an app, core function of ios MADE by 2 people in a company made in some garage = Siri was done exactly this way. APPLE was created by 3 guys in some company in some garage! HP & Oracle are 2 others that started out this way!

    Hell the first 1million apps on ios was created by companies started in garages or bedrooms or on desks by some programmer on their Apple PC single handedly or woth less than 5 people! This continues today!!

    See how asinine the mind is when drinking a companies Kool Aid too much????!!!

      Apple this Apple that.
      THey say one thing and do the other.
      It was always this way.
      For sake of peace and for sake of lessons of teaching no matter how big you are you cant do whathewer you wish for they should gets fined.
      Apple deserves a slap.
      A one slap every morning for being not so greedy and one slap at evening to better remember every next day they should be a company for customers not for own value.
      No Tim Cook, no Steve Jobs, No Johny Ive etc will take even a single penny to afterlife.

        Through all the good stuff will enter equally the bad stuff. That's the problem when you make everything open source and grant access to everything. Not everyone is the good guy and not every app is good and trustworthy.
        I want 1 app that works good and is trustworthy, not 10 apps from which 9 are bad, shady apps.

            This is the only stupid decision from the EU that can actually affect me negatively when it comes to Apple.

            You see, this is not done because the EU cares about the end-users. It is done because banks and other card issuers lobbied for this.

            Just like the multiple app stores were not done for the end-users. They were put in law because huge companies like Spotify and epic games lobbied for this.

            The apple pay system and the apple wallet are BY FAR the best payment processing system for end-users.
            The fact that if was only available to Apple meant everyone who issued cards (banks, voucher companies, meal tickets companies, etc) and wanted to have apple clients as their clients had to make their card available through Apple pay, the BEST PAYMENT SYSTEM for end-users.

            On android, some of the shit card companies (banks, voucher companies, meal tickets companies, etc) do not allow their cards to work with Google pay. Instead, they force the users to use their own shit apps which are cumbersome to use and don't work at all half of the time.

            Now, this disgusting filth from the android world will also propagate to ios users just because huge companies lobbied for this.

            People saying the EU is doing good for the end-user by forcing apple to all those stupid requests have no idea what they are talking about and have never really used an iphone with various banks and other card issuers.

            Just clueless people who have no Idea what they are talking about and who are wishing involuntarily for ios users to also get screwed, which was already happening to android users unfortunately.

I have 0 trust in s... moreWhat beats me, is not the fact that you have no idea what third party apps mean, (while some commenters here, tried to se you streight), you are also quite proud of being ignorant to the matter.
                      I rather have a choice to dive through 1000 shady apps to find the right one for me, instead of owning a shady brand device that has forces it's apps on my devices with no escape but selling them. Just because you are a ...fan... and have vague understanding of freedom and third party in general, does not mean that everybody should be like you.
                      Bravo to EU for kicking some apple behind, i hope they will keep on doing so until apple monopolist evil fades into oblivion.

Every bank, oh well probably not every bank, has it's own app for paying system. If their is a third party app for paying with nfc, in this mix, that is apple pay. But well, not all banks like being forced to pay apple money for using crapples pay app, so they just do not release apps for ios. So, while android users get to use the original banking app (the only one app that people should be using), this apple fans use apple pay crapp, or none, hura. You really have no idea what is going on, but hey, you are happy, so this must be meaning something.

I have 0 trust in s... moreAs others have mentioned below, Apple Pay is the 3rd party app and the app of your bank is the 1st party app. Apple Pay is another mediator app enforced by Apple to make money with everything you use your iPhone for, in this case payments.
                            Can you please use your brain before having an emotional outburst?
                            Moreover, you are literally saying that you trust Apple Pay but not the App Store. So do you trust Apple or not?

                              Will there be shady apps, yes, but I am sure there will be some that are reliable. Users need will take the responsibility now to find the the honest apps. The point of all this was equity and equality for developers and the new digital currency. Good luck.

They support everything (Google, Samsung, Garmin) but Apple Pay (case in point, DNB, the largest financial group in the Nordics). Their users have to use Curve and other third party services to intermediate their actual card if they want any NFC payment. This is a big win for iOS customers (well, not for all, not for you, apparently).

If you don't trust your bank with your money and data, then you have other problems.

A 1st party app would be one provided by your bank or financial services provider. Any other payment app would be a 3rd party app the same as Apple Pay.                                         Good job EU. So far it's all been positive for the average mobile user. Keep it up!

                                        - Switched to USB-C...finally
                                        - RCS has been improved for chatting between Android & iMessage

                                        and now more choice for mobile payments. If you already have Google Pay/Wallet and are switching from Android you can easily continue using it if you want or setup Apple Pay. Some banks have their own wallets as well. It's your choice. This is what it all comes down to...choice
