Boggy, 12 Jul 2024I will still continue to use Apple Pay. I have 0 trust in s... moreApple Pay is a 3rd party app used for payments. A 1st party app would be one provided by your bank or financial services provider. Any other payment app would be a 3rd party app the same as Apple Pay. You don't even know what you're talking about.

Good job EU. So far it's all been positive for the average mobile user. Keep it up!

    - Switched to USB-C...finally
    - RCS has been improved for chatting between Android & iMessage

and now more choice for mobile payments. If you already have Google Pay/Wallet and are switching from Android you can easily continue using it if you want or setup Apple Pay. Some banks have their own wallets as well. It's your choice. This is what it all comes down to...choice

Im from Europe and i will not use third party apps for anything. And i think that 99% of the Apple users dont really care abot third party apps stores etc. We chose IOS cuz its closed.

so instead of having place to secure your cards, each bank/creditor will want consumers to have their specific wallet... how awesome!!
Now which EU tech company will this affect the most?

I will still continue to use Apple Pay. I have 0 trust in some third party app that will appear suddenly on App Store, made by some "company" with 3 employees in some apartment, lol.
But yeah sure, let's open everything and make App Store as shady as Play Store.
Being 100% open is not as good as people think it is. From all the things in there, maybe 50% are bad apps or apps that steal your data. You need to swim in all that sh*t to find the trusty and good apps.
I rather have my data on Apple servers than on some Russian/Chinese kid basement, who happened to create some "quality free" app, lol.

Anonymous, 12 Jul 2024EU is doing a good job in this aspectAgreed. They are single-handedly taking down Apple's walled garden. Wish more countries would get involved especially those where Apple's marketshare is dominant.

This is the only thing that I agree. But, Apple should open it to all not just EU.
