The telephoto camera module is noticeably bigger than the one in the Xperia 1 V.

I'm not defending sony's bad zoom quality but currently this might be a limit in tech however who knows maybe they could fix it by giving it a stacked sensor like the main cam. The current sensor is just too small

Anonymous, 16 Jul 2024This argument has no value. More pixels mean more informati... moreDid you know that the human eye doesn't perceive the pixel density above 330 ppi? Why are you so PITA about this?

Some people doesn't have a life. Seeking any opportunity to criticize. I guess life doesn't bring enough joy to them so they're out there seeking arguments in the internet :)

Resolution is not the only solution to see more information on the screen :) increasing the screen size helps with that as well.

If you ask anyone whether they'd give up on the resolution to gain more battery life, I'm sure the percentage of people saying yes would be much higher nowadays. People want a phone that can truly last a day, even with a heavy use.

That's ofc not enough for this PITA people that leads them to criticize about slow improvements on battery designs. Sorry people but it's not like hardwares going incremental every year. There are limitations.

I enjoy sony battery life which last longer(longer years) than samsung, just hard to find

6oLsh0i6o0z3, 16 Jul 2024Sony still uses a circular vibration motor for its flagship? Why does the shape matter? How about reading what GSMArena has said about the 1 VI's haptics in their review of the device?

Well, let me do it for you then:

"And as far as day-to-day performance goes, we feel like Xperia UI is one of the smoothest around. We didn't experience any deal-breaking issues or hiccups. Everything feels snappy and responsive. The nice haptic feedback in certain scenarios ties everything together nicely."

And from the predecessor, which uses exactly the same vibration motor as the 1 VI:

"We just want to dedicate a few words to the screen's haptic feedback - it's one of the best we've used, with lovely haptics you can feel at the exact spot where you've tapped."

Anonymous, 16 Jul 2024Take out the CPU and GPU. You'll have an everlasting b... moreIf such battery tech actually ever existed now, then sure enough, Apple and Samsung, of all smartphone manufacturers, would be the first ones to have it on their flagships.
It's not about having the best specs at all times that makes a phone a true flagship device. Sony phones have had 4K screens for years, but nobody even flamed Samsung and Apple for not competing with it, and it even was thrown back against Sony for having an "impractical" and "unnecessary" flagship 4K screen.

Now that Sony dropped that "unnecessary" 4K screen in favor of a more energy-efficient and "practical" FHD+ screen, that is plenty sharp enough for the vast majority of users, everyone is still hating them for not having a "high-enough screen resolution", as if 2K is the only proper choice altogether, when not even movies and contents are shot in that resolution natively.

Stupid selectivity at its finest, ah.

I wonder what's the gain for some people to ask for premium phones with under mediocre components. 'Cause it's not battery life. Phones for reviews? Or what?
Obviously, it's cheaper for manufacturers to put a lot of trolls and shills to talk non-sense on forums, instead of investing in some serious battery tech which would be able to perform well and deliver the needed energy for premium, high spec'd phones.
              Phony world...

Shamrock Sean, 16 Jul 2024It is but images are very soft with the zoom They're a big step up from the last generation 1. What do you mean soft. Just look at the testing GSMArena did in their review. Look at the picture with the clock and see how much sharper the new generation is.

While the telephoto camera is bigger than before because of the longer zoom range and telemacro support, it's still a 1/3.5" sensor unit. As much as I'm impressed with the new improved telephoto camera, it desperately needs a much larger sensor unit. 1/3.5" just won't cut it. After all, the Mk3 Xperia 1/5 has a 1/2.9" telephoto camera.

Anonymous, 16 Jul 2024No. Sony crops the imx650 , that is a 40MP 1/1.7. Senso... moreIMX650 is a type 1/1.7 Quad Bayer sensor - It wouldn't fit inside Xperia's periscope module to begin with (remember, cropping the sensor wouldn't physically make it smaller), not to mention that using only the centre 12MP portion would mean its effective colour resolution is 3MP (since it's QB). This would make no sense and the most plausible explanation would be that Sony is using the same internal name for different sensors since their actual names would never go public anyway.
