The rumours could be true that Sony is phasing out the Xperia 5 models. Which is bad because it was Apple who also discontinued the iPhone 13 Mini, meaning there are no longer any Small Phones on the market. At least any new ones which are higher than midrange.
I think a healthy market would have options with S M L sizes. Like we used to have with the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact, Pro, and Premium. Or the iPhone 5S, 6S, 6S+ models. The corporations have moved away from serving the market, and into hyper-profits, to squeeze out as much money as they can. But that is a double-sided tactic which will hurt them in the long-term, as the consumers don't care for other phones outside of Apple and Samsung, unless they have some sort of thing to differentiate them (Pixels are directly Google, Xiaomi offers value for money, ASUS has the "mobile games" phone, etc etc).

I hate the iPhonification of all smartphones but at the same time its a good thing because it will eliminate all the differences they have and the worst manufacturers including Sony will go out of business

I might be wrong but this thing looks more like a 10vi variant or a new midranger, the 5 series has a flat frame and camera key this doesn't.

FatShady, 15 Jul 2024understandable, since it's overpriced by 200$ at least Hit the nail on the head right here. They make great phones with good battery life but way too expensive and not keeping up with the competition

I understand the appeal of a shutter button to some, but it makes more sense on the Mark 1 series from Sony.
(Not to mention how many times I accidentally pressed it while normally using the phone)
But I just use the power button for launching the camera on most phones, even Sony and volume buttons to make a picture.
Camera button is same like the assistant button some Android phones had in the past, it is "just there".
