Weekly poll: is the HMD Skyline your next phone?

21 July 2024
Nokia N9 fans took notice, the hot pink colorway drew even more attention. And it's easy to repair too? Unfortunately, there is a catch.

I... might want one. Fresh, interesting idea. I positively like the fact that it's not wearing the Nokia logo.

Anonymous, 21 Jul 2024Is an HMD device my next phone ? NeverMinding the fact that you are most probably writing this from a poco, realme phone...should anyone care about what you say? Nope.

why not make it again like before? they were good in 2017 when they made good phones in collaboration with Nokia. Take a look at the Nokia 6 which was very popular in the past and has been viewed by 36 million people on this site.

Owning a midranger, for about a year and a half and for the first time since smartphones existance, and nope i am not talking only since 2007 when apple released the not smartphone, but way before that, i really had no big issues with the device or frustrations that would make me wanna go back to flagships. I really see no problem into SD7 no matter what generation. When nokia x30 was released, all complaimed about the SD695, should have been 7 gen 1. Now the 7 gen 2 is trash cpu, so better 7+ gen3, then suddently 7+ gen 3 is trash so it should be 8.3 when it is 8.3 , it should have xeon flash, whent it has that, it should have had more ram. People here are cluless and all they do is complain and hate, so i passed that by a long time ago. Anyway this whole "performance" race that stuck for way too long without any worthtly to mention benefit is nothing but lack of innovation, shfiting people mindset from 'i want something interesting' to 'oh, this one has this CPU, and that one has that CPU'. I mean the chinese did not even bother, but bought from here the cpu from there the ram, frome here and there the storage and stole from everywhere the "put together". It is nice to see phones that can do something else. Like the cmf phone, even tough, is more of a gimmik then a use, still interesting, the Fairphone with it's plethora of values, the shiftphone with it's innovative way of putting together the device, and now hmd. I appload them trying to change something in this market. Chinese won't allow the shift to happen to easily tough, they have no ideas, they won't be able to fight without poco's and realme's "nothing to offer" devices, apple does not like it ider so they will also fight against this change, Samsung will probably be the only ones accepting it, as they actually are able to innovate if they want to, but boy will that be great when and if this happens, finaly a device to buy because of features and values, and not because of a cpu and RAM.

Your next phone is either an iPhone or a Samsung. Rarely can be a OnePlus or a Pixel. HMD your next phone? Unless you are drunk of course.

I love this fone I already ordered 3 for myself my wife and my daughter I got black one my wife n daughter the pinkish one outstanding design really like it feels design is different than others slabs

                  Didn't you mean Nokia?

7s gen 2 for 400 pounds, is HMD on crack? 🤣 Who will buy this crap? 😊 Small battery, slow charging, slow chipset, abysmal software support. There is too many better midtangers for this price

I'd probably pass on ot purely cause of the size, and cause my S22 is still perfectly fine except for the battery...

I genuinely hope this works out for HMD, though It's got that nice nostalgic vibe with a decent set of specs.
Is it the best mid-ranger, probably not.
Is it trying to be? Also probably not.

One of the handful of phones which ticks most boxes, but my only gripes are the camera placement, the sightly subpar (but usable) chipset and lesser updates in comparison to its Nokia-branded siblings.

Apart from that, they're making use of their acquired Lumia design patents, to say the least.

I do like it, we can all agree that the performance just isnt there for the price but I absolutely see a market for this kind of phone.
